* The journey into the wilderness.

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

God had caused Pharaoh and his men to be killed in the waters of the Red Sea.

The children of Israel greatly rejoiced and sang songs of praise to God for their deliverance from the Egyptians.

God led them into the vast wilderness.  There was a shorter route to the promised land but God did not want the people to draw back from HIS plan and return to Egypt.  So God led them in the longer route which would make it more difficult for them to return to Egypt.

In the Wilderness, two major problems occurred.

*  The children of Israel began to fight against Moses and Aaron.

*  Then the people of the other nations which were in their path became armies against the children of Israel and they had to fight these other nations.

***

The children of Israel fight against Moses and Aaron:

Exodus 16:1-3    And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

God provides food for them in the wilderness:

Exodus 16:4-17    Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.  And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the Lord hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:

When God provides for you then you know God brought you there and made the way for you where you are.

And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the Lord; for that HE heareth your murmurings against the Lord: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?

And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against HIM: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord.

And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the Lord: for HE hath heard your murmurings.

And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God.

And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.

And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.

Today, in the New Testament church, our "manna" is that Word that comes down from heaven to us through the Holy Spirit daily, and as is needed in dealing with the circumstances of this present life.  If a scripture comes to your mind, stop and focus on that scripture for it is brought by the Holy Spirit.  Or when you read these writings, and something stands out to you, stop and focus on that concept for this is the bread God has provided for you.

The Lord's supper is that Word that comes down from heaven to us.

That word from God comes into our minds usually as a gentle thought.  Sometimes it is so gentle that we barely recognize it coming into our minds.  And often it will come again and again until we finally stop and think on that word and know it has come into the mind.

John 6,

30-33    They said therefore unto HIM (to Jesus), What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?  Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is HE (Jesus) which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to ME shall never hunger; and he that believeth on ME shall never thirst.

41-44   The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43-44    Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

48-51  Jesus says:   I am that bread of life.

(Jesus, the Word, is that bread of life.)

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.   This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

53-58    Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.  For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.  He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.  As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.  This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus, the Word, is that living bread which comes down from God in the heavens and by that Word which is  given to us today, we know what to do in the issues pertaining to us in this present life.

When we believe on Jesus, the WORD, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God.  Ephesians 1

Then the Holy Spirit lives in us to teach us and to guide us and to show us things to come.

John 14:26    But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13   Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Today, God brings HIS WORD to us through thoughts brought to our minds by the Holy Spirit, through dreams, through visions, through words spoken by HIS angels.

By these "words" that come to us from God, we are led in what to do as we face situations of this present life.

Exodus16:16-18    This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.

And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.

And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.

In the New Testament, Paul speaks of this in connection with giving:

II Corinthians 9:10-15    And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

The Old Testament exhortations often carry over to the New Testament and the NT church.

Exodus 16:19-21 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.

And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.

For us today, the NT church, God gives us fresh "manna" daily by HIS Word.

Sometimes we will receive a word that we keep before us day and night for a season.  Other times we receive a word that fits a specific situation with which we are dealing at that exact moment.

That word given us by God by HIS Spirit, gives us faith to continue in the path we believe to be  directed by God for us.
