* David inquires of the Lord ... multiple times.

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

II Samuel 5:1-3   Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.

***

Eventually the tribes are divided again, but for the years of David and later Solomon, there is unity in the 12 tribes of the children of Israel.

II Samuel 5:4-5   David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

David's kingdom is established:

David went up to Jerusalem and the city is the city of David.

II Samuel 5:19-16   And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.

And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that HE (God) had exalted his kingdom for HIS people Israel's sake.

And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

In Old Testament days, men often had multiple wives but women never had more than one husband unless the first husband died.  In New Testament, the man had one wife.

The women of the Bible were very different from the women we see today.  Today's women are exceedingly evil, have sex outside of marriage.  It is a shame for women to do this as shown by the Bible examples in both the Old and New Testaments.

The wickedness is even greater now, thus leading to the coming wrath of God which comes on this present earth in the days ahead because of the wickedness.

Women have become so vile on television today that many times I have to shut my eyes because I cannot stand looking at them.

These are signs of the coming judgments of God on this earth.

At the end of the times of the Gentiles, the wrath of God comes.

The Philistines rise up to war against David:

II Samuel 5:17-21    But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

David asks God what he should do!   This is an outstanding action taken by David over and over.  David doesn't assume he knows what to do.  Even though David is the king over the children of Israel, over the chosen of God, David humbles himself and asks God again and again.  This is a very excellent example for us to go by.

And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt Thou deliver them into mine hand?

And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

There are so many evil religious "images" made by the hands of men in today's churches.

Jesus said:    But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship HIM.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth.  John 4:23-24

Years ago, a man in our church group went to a church gathering.  He came back telling us how wonderful this meeting was.  Several times he mentioned this meeting and how grand it was.

Finally I asked him, "What was so wonderful about it?"

He replied, "They had 3 crosses at the front of the tables and these crosses were covered with flowers."

If you can see it with your natural eyes it is of the flesh and affects the emotions of man.  If it is spirit, you cannot see it.

A woman in our church group went on a trip to Jerusalem with Marilyn Hickey several years ago.  They visited the tomb of Jesus.  As they stood inside the tomb, this woman heard, "Why seek ye the living among the dead?  HE is not here but is risen."  This woman realized she didn't have to come all the way to Israel to experience things of God.  She could do that in her own home.

Jerusalem and Israel today are not "the Holy Land".  These are nations of men just as other nations, with the exception that they deny Jesus as Lord.

It is that "new" Jerusalem that is to come after Jesus returns "wherein dwelleth righteousness"

II Peter 3:10-14   But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

God showed the apostle John the new heavens and the new earth and the new Jerusalem, and John told us about this in the following scripture.

Revelation 21:1-5  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:  for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God HIMSELF shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

The Philistines return against to fight David:

David has defeated the Philistines in battle by the Word of the Lord.

The Philistines came up again to fight David.

Even though the previous time, God told David he would "doubtlessly" give the victory to David over these Philistines, and they had won this great battle, when the Philistines came up again, David asked God again what he should do.  And this second time, God gave David different instructions from the first time.

II Samuel 5:22-25   And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

And when David enquired of the Lord, HE said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

We make a mistake when we fail to ask God what we should do each time the enemies surfaces.

We must not go into battle in our own strength.

Proverbs 2:6-8    For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of HIS mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. HE layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: HE is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. HE keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of HIS saints.
