* The decision of what to do about the tribe of Benjamin

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

Truth matters:

Ephesians 4:21   If so be that ye have heard HIM, and have been taught by HIM, as the truth is in Jesus: (the word)

The devil has no truth in him.  And the children of the devil can't hold to the truth.  For their father is the devil and they are like their father.

Jesus said: John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

It is the love of the truth that saves us over and over.

If you think it is a little thing, and unimportant to seek out the truth, you are probably already lost.

Luke 16:10    He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

The pursuit of truth is in us who belong to God.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.

John 16:13   Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

This is how important the love of the truth is:

II Thessalonians 2:10-12   And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

As a new Christian in 1975, I first attended a church that my best friend and her husband attended.  It was non-denominational with a pastor who was a professor at  Dallas Theological Seminary.

Pastor was teaching a seminar where he was saying tongues are of the devil.

I was reading the New Testament Bible and saw the following words of the apostle Paul.

Concerning the gathering of the church:  Paul said:

I Corinthians 14:39    forbid not to speak with tongues.

I was confronted with choosing between that church and the Bible.

I chose the Bible.  I never went back to that church group where something opposite to Bible was being taught.

I believed the truth was in Jesus, The Word ... in the Bible.

My love of the truth saved me from the evil of that church group.

Unless you have this love of the truth in you, you will not hold to truth, and damnation follows.

I find truth is a way of life.

Even in secular matters.

How can you seek truth in spiritual matters and not feel it is important to obtain truth in secular matters?

I am acquainted with a woman who seems to think truth is in what she thinks.  She shows no interest in establishing truth by the Bible or by Internet on secular things.  She likes what she thinks and clings to that.  Unless we prove that which "we think" and then hold fast to the truth, in so much as we can see truth, how can we be saved?

Pam Padgett and I both love truth.  When I mention something to Pam, she is often looking into the truth of that which I spoke.  She looks at Bible if it is a spiritual subject.  And if it is a secular subject she often looks on Internet.  And often her search enlarges the truth I have found. This is good.

Once I was speaking with my aunt and I quoted a scripture.  I went into another room briefly, and when I returned, I noticed my aunt with her Bible opened and she was peering into it intently.  I knew she was looking at that scripture which I had quoted.  I was delighted!

Most church people do not do this.  You speak a scripture to them, and they pretend to listen, but there is no action showing they were paying any attention, or even cared to look at that scripture in the Bible, for the scriptures do not mean that much to them.  They do not have a love of the truth.  This love has to be deeply within us.

Acts 17:10-12   And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

They were checking what the apostle Paul said!

12   Therefore many of them believed;

The tribe of Benjamin allowed evil to exist within their lands.  They refused to deal with the evil and they attacked the children of the other tribes of Israel instead of attacking those who did the evil.  As a result, the tribe of Benjamin ended up attacking the other tribes of the children of Israel.  Benjamin ended with most of their tribe killed and the 600 men who remained fled and hid themselves in the rock of Rimmon.

After that, the other tribes swore not to give their daughters to the tribe of Benjamin so that would end up destroying the tribe of Benjamin for future.

They had to find a plan for the tribe of Benjamin to be restored.

Judges 21:1-3
Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.

And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore;  And said, O Lord God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel?

The children of Jacob (named Israel by God) were: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin  (Genesis 30 & Genesis 35:16-18)

Joseph had two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh and they were called the 1/2 tribes of Israel  (Genesis 41:51-52)

They spent 400 years in bondage in Egypt.  And many generations came from the 12 sons of Jacob (Israel).  Then they were brought out of Egypt and more sons were born in the wilderness before they reached the promised land.  Joshua led them into the promised land and more sons were born to the descendents of the 12 sons, who were now dead.  They grouped according to the names of Jacob's sons with Ephraim and Manasseh being 1/2 tribes.  They are all children of Israel and they now number more than 600,000 men.

Thus there were 12 tribes of Israel, the sons of Israel (Jacob)

Judges 19:4 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

5 And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the Lord? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the Lord to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.

6 And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.

7 How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the Lord that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?

8 And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the Lord? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly.

9 For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead there.

10 And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.

11 And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.

12 And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

13 And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them.

14 And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.

15 And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

16 Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?

17 And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.

18 Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.

19 Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the Lord in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.

20 Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards

21 And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

22 And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.  23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.

24 And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.

25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
