A person in our little church group said to me "Every donut shop closes at noon."
I asked, "Have you talked to every donut shop in the city of Lubbock and verified that statement?"
She said "I have talked to three."
There are more donut shops in Lubbock than three.
If one of them closes at 5 PM, she is in danger of bearing false witness.
A false witness is telling something as being fact, when it is not fact.
We are going to be held accountable on the day of judgment for every idle word that we speak.
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
One of the 10 Commandments is as follows:
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
