Matthew 24 (Jesus says)
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
(By this Jesus shows us some of the elect will be on this earth during the great tribulation.)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe (Noah) were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
A few weeks ago an outdoor amphitheater opened a few miles from our house. It has surprised me that I can often hear the performances. Its usually not very loud at my house unless there is a lot of bass; then I'm unable to keep my windows open and need to keep the tv or music inside my house at a fairly high volume to drown out the booming bass noise. (Interestingly, the noise can't be heard from Joan's room. This is wonderful since Joan is very sensitive to noise.)
I'm aware from TV news and from emails sent to me that people in this area are very upset about the noise and have started efforts to fight what the amphitheater people are doing. And certainly my flesh wants to rise up and join them in the fight.
But I've been led by the Holy Spirit to be still and commit the matter to God.
Also, I've been reminded of when the golf course behind my house was closed and listed to be sold. It seemed very likely to be sold to a developer and that houses would be built right behind my house. Many neighbors were quite upset about this prospect and joined together to try to keep this from happening.
I had enjoyed the quietness of having the golf course behind my house and certainly did not want houses to be built in that area. But instead of joining the neighbors in their efforts, I was led to talk with God about my concerns. I asked HIM to please work it out as HE willed and to help me live in peace with whatever happened.
Interestingly, it wasn't the efforts of neighbors that resolved the issue. Our water comes primarily from wells (God provides the water in the wells) and because of the limited amount of water in the wells, the developer who purchased the golf course land was able to build only about 55 houses. He built those houses on the outlying areas of the golf course land. Then the developer gave the remainder of the golf course land to our Home Owner's Association.
As a result, no houses were built behind my house and I am free to take my dogs for walks in the open area any time I want. God worked it all out to be better for me than it was when the land was a golf course.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the
Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of
his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man
seeth; for man looked on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on
the heart.
