πŸ’₯ Is growing old something to fear?

Pam Padgett, member of the body of Christ

Sometimes we hear people say things like “Don't get old!” ... as if being old is a terrible thing fraught with inevitable, overwhelming problems.

Recently this was mentioned to me and I was reminded of some scriptures which give God's view:

Psalm 37:25 King David said ... I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

(When writing this Psalm, King David was old. However, his focus wasn't on age, but on righteousness before God. God keeps and provides for us as we walk in righteousness before HIM.)

Isaiah 46:3-4
God says ... Hearken unto ME, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by ME from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

4 And even to your old age I am HE; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

(God cares for HIS people, even in their old age.)

Dueteronomy 34:7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

(It is God who gives us a sound mind, not age)

I often hear people say negative things about growing old.  It’s good to see God’s view and to keep our focus on that.
