Psalm 111:10 The
fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have
all they that do HIS commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.
What is "The fear of the Lord"?
When we "fear the Lord", we know that God knows all things, (present, past, and future). We are afraid to go against that which God tells us,
for we know we bring destruction upon ourselves if we depart from the
law and wisdom of God to go in the way of men or to do that which we
prefer doing.
Therefore, "the fear of the Lord" keeps us in the path of God.
Truly, "the fear of the Lord" is the beginning of wisdom.
When a man sees this word which Jesus said, "But
I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the
cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever
shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." (Matthew 5:32)
That man who sees this word of Jesus and has "a fear of the Lord"
will not dare to divorce a faithful wife for he knows if he chooses to
go against what Jesus says, he will bring destruction upon himself and
destroy himself on this earth and he will not prosper in his way even
when he seems to prosper he will be destroyed in the time to come.
When a man is looking for a wife and sees this word which Jesus spoke, and that man has "a fear of the Lord", that
man will not even date the woman who has been divorced for fear that he
might end up marrying her and bringing destruction upon himself by
choosing to go in a way opposite to that which Jesus said in the Holy
Bible.
Therefore "the fear of the Lord" keeps us from going in a way of destruction which is opposite to that which God said to us.
