Podcast: A minister of God has a right to live off the gospel but the apostle Paul chose to work at a secular job and earn his living

I Corinthians 9  (Paul says)

1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

3 Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

4 Have we not power to eat and to drink?

5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

10 Or saith HE it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

15 But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

Paul earned his living as a tentmaker.

Acts 18

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

3 And because he was of the same craft, he (Paul) abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

When I closed my secular business in American Indian Arts to go into the ministry July 31, 1979, I lived off the money from the merchandise that sold as I closed the business, $22,000.

For the next 6 months, I remained at my apartment in Dallas and paid for my needs with some of that money, while I waited for God to show me what I was to do in the ministry.

On January 10, 1980, as I waited, I was asleep in the night when a very loud trumpet like voice spoke three words into my ear:  "Hartford, Seattle, KWJS"

By this God put me on radio to exhort the church.

Hymn: I love to tell the story

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

 1.  I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory,

Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story,

Because I know ’tis true;
It satisfies my longings

As nothing else can do.

Chorus:

I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story

of Jesus and His love.

 2.  I love to tell the story;
More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies

Of all my golden dreams,
I love to tell the story,

It did so much for me;
And that is just the reason

I tell it now to thee.

3.  I love to tell the story;
’Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it,

More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story;

For some have never heard
The message of salvation

From God’s own holy Word.

4.  I love to tell the story;
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting

To hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,

I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story,

That I have loved so long.

Scripture pertaining to this hymn:

Philemon v.6    That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

***

Romans 5:5-9   ... the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth HIS love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

***

Concerning telling the story of Jesus ...

Every time I share that which God has shown me, I tell of God and His power to help us and guide us as we live on this present earth.

It seems I'm almost always sharing something with people who come to the house to work.

And wherever I am, I share as the subject arises.

I never plan anything.  I just pray for God to have me say what HE wants me to say and it seems there is always something HE wants me to say.

I speak as issues and scripture are brought to memory.  This is the way the Holy Spirit leads me.

πŸ’₯ A few scriptures telling us what God will do for us.

Psalm 84:11  For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will HE withhold from them that walk uprightly.

(A sun to light our way ahead ... A shield to keep us from going the wrong way and to keep us from harm and injury by Holy Spirit warning us.)

I Timothy 6:17  Charge them that are rich in this world (those who have savings accounts), that they be not highminded (arrogant), nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto HIM that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

(The power that works in us is the Holy Spirit who lives in us and searches the heart of God to show us the way to go in the issues pertaining to this present life.)

John 14:16  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to know the will of God for us today.  The Holy Spirit shows us God's will in the specific matters of this life by bringing to our minds the thoughts of God.  (I Cor. 2)

1 Corinthians 2

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by HIS Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

(Verse 9 is Old Testament and only a few had the Holy Spirit in those days.  But in NT all who are born again have Holy Spirit so we can know the will of God for us in the issues of this life.)

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Podcast: Bible says, we will not be tempted above that we are able

I Corinthians 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I believe this means:  God will not allow to come to us in this life more than we are able to stand,

Hymn: I know that my Redeemer lives

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1.  I know that my Redeemer lives
And ever prays for me;
A token of His love He gives,

A pledge of liberty.

2.  I know that my Redeemer lives,
A quick’ning Spirit He;
I know eternal life He gives—

Amazing grace—to me.

3.  I find Him lifting up my head;
He brings salvation near;
His presence makes me free indeed,

And He will soon appear.

4.   He wills that I should holy be:
What can withstand His will?
The counsel of His grace in me
He surely shall fulfill.

5.  Jesus, I hang upon Thy word:
I steadfastly believe
Thou wilt return and claim me, Lord,

And to Thyself receive.

Scriptures pertaining to this hymn:

v. 1   I know that my Redeemer lives
And ever prays for me;

Hebrews 7:25   Wherefore HE is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by HIM, seeing HE ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Romans 8:24-34    For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?   But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And HE that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because HE maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

For whom HE did foreknow, HE also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of HIS Son, that HE might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Moreover whom HE did predestinate, them HE also called: and whom HE called, them HE also justified: and whom HE justified, them HE also glorified.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

He that spared not HIS own Son, but delivered HIM up for us all, how shall HE not with HIM also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, WHO is even at the right hand of God, WHO also maketh intercession for us.

***

v. 2  I know that my Redeemer lives,
A quick’ning Spirit He;

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

 John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of HIMSELF; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

***

v. 3  His presence makes me free indeed,
And He will soon appear.

Ephesians 1:12-14 ...  That we should be to the praise of HIS glory, who first trusted in Christ.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of HIS glory.

John 8:31-32   Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on HIM, If ye continue in MY word, then are ye MY disciples indeed;  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18   But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep (die) in Jesus will God bring with Him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede)  them which are asleep (dead).

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

πŸ’₯ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

I especially delight in that word brought down from above for I believe that is the will of God for me at the point in time when I hear that word from the Spirit of God.  I keep that word before me day and night, sometimes for weeks or even for months.

It is a great joy and special delight to me!  For I know it is God's will for me right now!

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I like to read through the highlighted parts of the Book of Psalms, for I am strengthened and settled by these scriptures:

Psalms

34:1-3  My soul shall make her boast in the LORD  (the Word): the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt HIS name (the Word) together.  4  I sought the LORD (the Word), and HE (the Word) heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

34:7-10  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear HIM, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the LORD (The Word) is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in HIM (in the Word).

9 O fear the LORD (the Word), ye HIS saints: for there is no want to them that fear HIM (The Word).

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD (The Word) shall not want any good thing.  (For HE, The Word, will lead us.)

34:11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

(The "fear of the Lord" is a deep understanding that The Word who is Jesus knows that which is best for us and we know it will not be a good thing for us if we choose to go a way opposite to the Word in the matter at hand.)

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Podcast: No man in Bible called himself "Reverend".

As we think on the word given us by the Holy Spirit, that will cause us to go in the way God shows us in the Holy Bible.  Certainly that way will end up being a way of success where things turn out well in the sight of God  according to God's plan for us and HIS purpose.

The apostle Paul says:

Philippians 2:5-7      Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Jesus came to this earth, not as a "god", though Jesus was God as God's first begotten Son.

But Jesus didn't exalt Himself by things such as wearing hats and robes to say "Look at Me.  I'm religious. I'm the Son of God. Pay respect to Me."

Jesus did not call himself "Reverend" and such, to cause humans to think HIM to be something, though HE was something.

Those who were of God would know HIM by HIS works and word.

Jesus' word was with power and authority and by HIS WORD the people of God knew HIM.

HE did not exalt himself among men, but rather "HE made himself of no reputation."

Paul tells us to do this same thing.

When we speak to other people, do we try to make them think we are something special?  Do we structure what we say to bring glory to us?  Do we try to exalt ourselves in their eyes?

We probably tried to do that earlier in our lives, going in the way of this world.

But now, do we do that?

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

For several weeks, I spent time with the verse where Jesus made Himself of no reputation.  I kept it before me, thinking of how humans try to impress people.  I wanted to do this scripture and purposed to go an opposite way to the flesh of man.

As we think on an instruction from Bible and think on how that instruction is often violated and have a desire to do the verse, I believe God enables us to do what is right in HIS eyes.

And as we do that verse over and over as we live in this life, we develop a good root system and lay a good foundation as we walk on this earth.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Philippians 2   And being found in fashion as a man, HE humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

"Not my will but THY will be done."

Jesus did not want to go to the cross.  Three times HE prayed that "this cup" be removed from HIM if possible.  But Jesus saw it was God's way.  Jesus also knew HIS cross would cause the scripture to be fulfilled. So Jesus chose to lay down HIS life because it was God's will for Him.

My own plan for myself was nothing like God's will for me.

I wanted to marry.  But that was not going to be what God designed for my life.  I fought God for many years. Finally, I agreed to what God wanted me to do and after that, I was fine.

There are people today who make fun of me and say evil about me but I do ask God to forgive them for they don't realize that which I'm doing is what God ordained for me to do and to be, doing the work of a minister called by God.  It is by the will of God, as Paul spoke of himself when identifying himself to the church as an apostle, preacher, and teacher.

I am called by Jesus as an apostle and prophet to minister to the churches by the will of God ...

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

What did ministers of the New Testament Bible call themselves?

When we are set in the church to do the work of a minister, it is good to define to the church the work that we do ... apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher ... these are by the same Holy Spirit but are different types of works for the NT church.

This is what the Bible shows us about ministers of today's NT Church:

Ephesians 4  (Jesus set up the ministers and the NT Church from heaven)

Wherefore HE (Jesus) saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

11 And HE (Jesus) gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

The New Testament Bible shows ministers identifying themselves as:  apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.  (this is what ministers in today's church should do)

πŸ’₯ Peter said:

I Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Peter 1:2  Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 5:1  The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

Qualification of an elder in the NT Church:  (elder and bishop are the same office, interchangeable titles)

Titus 1 (Paul speaking to Titus)

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

(This scripture shows Peter was married and had children for that is one qualification for being an elder in the NT church ... Also we have a scripture showing Jesus going to Peter's house and healing Peter's mother-in-law:  Matthew 8:14-15   And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, HE saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15 And HE touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.)

Titus 1:

7 For a bishop (elder) must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

πŸ’₯   Paul called himself "a preacher, apostle, and teacher".

2 Timothy 1:11  (Paul says of himself)  Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

Paul also wrote several epistles to the churches where he identified the offices to which he was called by Jesus:

Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

I Corinthians 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God,

2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,

Galatians 1:1  Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised HIM from the dead;)

Ephesians 1:1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Colossians 1:1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,

I Timothy 1:1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

Titus 1:1  Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

πŸ’₯  Philip is called an "evangelist" ... and he had 4 daughters who prophesied  (?prophets)

Acts 21

8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

πŸ’₯   In Book of Acts, several ministers are identified by their ministry office:

Acts 11  (New Testament prophets in the New Testament church)

27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Acts 15:32  And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

There are several other scriptures which refer to ministry offices in the NT Bible but always calling these offices: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher.

(In the New Testament Bible no man is called pope, archbishop; vicar, cardinal, nor is any man called "Reverend".)

We establish our churches and doctrines today by the New Testament Bible, doing as shown in these scriptures.

But many chuches today change the scripture and call their ministers by titles not in the New Testament Bible and teach their followers to do such.  I believe this will bring judgment from God upon those who fail to go by the New Testament Bible.

The New Testament Bible is "our handbook" showing what to do today in the churches of Jesus.

Hymn: HE leadeth me!

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1. He leadeth me! O blessed thought,
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught;
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
Still ’tis Christ’s WORD that leadeth me.

Chorus:

He leadeth me! He leadeth me!
By His own WORD He leadeth me;

His faithful follower I would be,
For by His WORD He leadeth me.

2.  Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His WORD that leadeth me.

3.  Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine (by reaching out and grabbing HIS Word and doing it),

Nor ever murmur or repine; *

Content, whatever lot I see,
Since it is Thou that leadest me.

4.  And when my task on earth is done,
When, by Thy grace, the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,

Since Thou in triumph leadest me.

Defnitions:

Consider these definitions for the words "murmur" and "repine" in verse 3.

Nor ever murmur or repine;

murmur:  complain about

repine:  to look back with intense longing for what one once had ...
             to be fretfully discontented ...
             to mope, to languish, to feel upset about, to be despondent over ... to brood, lament, grieve, mourn, sorrow

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak

πŸ’₯ God often leads me with joy and peace and with a continued interest in the project.

We seek God by prayer, continually asking God to show us if this is the will of God for us.

And then I often follow interest.

Sometimes my interest in the project goes dead.  And often God will stop me by that.  (I always know God can stop me.)

Is it our will to do the will of God in the matter at hand?

I always know God knows what is best for me.

James 3

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Isaiah 55:12  For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Podcast: God said to me: "People of the world want to be free to sin. Born again people want to be free from sin."

Psalm 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I once asked a woman who was raised in the Baptist church, "Didn't you ever have a fear of God?"

She replied, "No I haven't."

Somehow I've always known that to go in the way of the Word of God is a good thing and it would be fearful for me to go opposite to the direction told me by God.

This is a "fear of the Lord" ... a fear of the Word of God.

Jesus HIMSELF is "The Word."

Proverbs 4

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20 My son, attend to MY words; incline thine ear unto MY sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

A woman in our church group once told me her adult age son said, "The Bible is so legalistic."

This really troubled me, I told God.

Later God said to me: "People of the world want to be free to sin.  People of God want to be free from sin."

The Bible, the Word of God, is freedom from sin when we live by those scriptures!

Psalm 111:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do HIS commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.

Hymn: Hallelujah! Sing to Jesus

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1.  Hallelujah! sing to Jesus,
His the scepter, His the throne;
Hallelujah! His the triumph,

His the victory alone.

Hark, the songs of His redeemed ones

Thunder like a mighty flood:
Jesus out of every nation

Hath redeemed us by His blood.

2.  Hallelujah! not as orphans
Are we left in sorrow now;
Hallelujah! He is in us,

Faith believes, nor questions how.

Though the clouds from sight received Him

When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,

“I am with you evermore“?

3.  Hallelujah! Bread of heaven (The Word),
Thou on earth our food, our stay;
Hallelujah! here the hungry

Come to Thee from day to day.

Advocate and Intercessor,

My Redeemer pleads for me,
On the throne of the Almighty

Now and to eternity.

4.  Hallelujah! sing to Jesus,
His the scepter, His the throne;
Hallelujah! His the triumph,

His the victory alone.

Hark, the songs of His redeemed ones

Thunder like a mighty flood:
Jesus out of every nation,

Hath redeemed us by His blood.

Scripture pertaining to this hymn:

John 1:1-4   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by HIM
(The Word / Jesus); and without HIM was not any thing made that was made.

In HIM (The Word / Jesus) was life; and the life was the light of men.

(God created the heavens and earth and all things through THE WORD ... And THE WORD rules ... yet the WORD is subject to God the Father.)

***

Concerning the blood of Jesus ... God gave me a very strong revelation as follows:

Hebrews 9:12   ... by HIS own blood HE entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us ... v. 22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

I have shed none of my own blood to pay for my sins.  Jesus did shed HIS own blood to pay for my sins.  My sins can never be paid for by my works, by trying to make up for what I did wrong.  Only through entering into belief in Jesus' blood can I be saved from my sins.

***

We are heirs with Christ through Jesus' blood.

Romans 8:11-17    But if the Spirit of HIM that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by HIS Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.

John 6:35   (Jesus said)    I am the bread of life: he that cometh to ME shall never hunger; and he that believeth on ME shall never thirst.

Jesus, THE WORD, is the bread we, who are children of God, eat and drink.

The Lord's supper is THE WORD which we live by.  We eat and drink THE WORD continually as we live on this earth.

THE WORD (Jesus) is flesh and blood to us.

John 6:48-51    Jesus says:   I am that bread of life.

(Jesus, THE WORD, is our bread.)

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is MY flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

(THE WORD comes down from heaven to us today and comes into our minds by His Spirit speaking ...  THE WORD is living bread, for that word delivered to us today comes from God, The Father, through HIS Spirit who lives in us ... HE speaks to us through Jesus' Spirit, the Holy Spirit, and shows us the way to go as we live on this earth today ... God does this by bringing HIS thoughts to our minds by HIS Spirit.  John 14:26 & John 16:13)

***

John 6:53-58   Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.

(Life is in The Word of God ... and the way we eat and drink that WORD given us by God.)

Whoso eateth My flesh, and drinketh My blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.

He that eateth My flesh, and drinketh My blood, dwelleth in Me, and I
(dwell) in him.

As the living Father hath sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me.

This
(The Word)
is that bread which came down from heaven

***

Romans 8:34    ... It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

***

Philippians 4:13    I can do all things through Christ (the Word) which strengtheneth me.
