Many people try to worship God by things they do and by objects made by man. They make a strong visual display of their religion by crossing themselves, and by hanging crosses about their homes, and by lighting candles, and by wearing medallions made by the hands of man.
Jesus said:
John 4
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth.
A "spirit" cannot be seen.
To trust in something you can see is a vain worship.
To put your faith in God, a Spirit, will never fail.

And we worship "in truth."
The truth is Jesus, The Word.
The Word comes though scriptures.
And The Word sometimes comes by God speaking directly to our mind and heart through the Holy Spirit.
We cling to That Word given to us by God by HIS Spirit.
