Ezekiel 36 God says:
23 And I will sanctify MY great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put MY spirit within you, and cause you to walk in MY statutes, and ye shall keep MY judgments, and do them.

Only a few people in the Old Testament had the Holy Spirit so they had to go to the prophet to know the will of God. But in the NT we go directly to God in prayer by Jesus and God speaks to us directly by HIS Spirit to show us what to do in this present life.
Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS Son, WHOM HE hath appointed heir of all things, by WHOM also HE made the worlds;
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS Son, WHOM HE hath appointed heir of all things, by WHOM also HE made the worlds;
In the New Testament church all who belong to God are given the Holy Spirit to live in each believer, to teach them all things, to remind them of everything Jesus has said, to guide them into all truth and to show them things to come.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify ME: for HE shall receive of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.

So when we share that which the Holy Spirit says to us, we glorify God and Jesus for we cause people to see them by that which we share by HIS Spirit.

And each time we share by the Holy Spirit our own self is strengthened spiritually.
Philemon verse 6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
When we share what the Holy Spirit shows us we become stronger in God.
