The people sinned against God and God raised up the king of Babylon against them and ordained that they be carried away to Babylon for a period of 70 Years.

Jeremiah the prophet told them this would be a 70 years sentence.  He told them it was because of their sins God had pronounced this.

Today's churches often live as if there is no penalty if they continue to sin after they have been enlighten to sin and know the truth.

The apostle Peter says:  For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.  (2 Peter 2:20-21)

The apostle Paul says:

Galatians 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

If we sow wheat, we reap wheat.  If we sow to our flesh, we reap flesh.

Isaiah 56

3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from HIS people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep MY sabbaths, and choose the things that please ME, and take hold of MY covenant;

5 Even unto them will I give in MINE house and within MY walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve HIM, and to love the name of the Lord, to be HIS servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

7 Even them will I bring to MY holy mountain, and make them joyful in MY house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon MINE altar; for MINE house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

Hebrews 10

14 For by one offering HE hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that HE had said before,

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put MY laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Ephesians 1:3-4  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as HE hath chosen us in HIM before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before HIM in love:

1 Peter 2

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
