Scriptures:

Joshua 1:8   This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Comments from Joseph Meriweather:  During these evil times we need the word of God in our lives.

Comments by Joan Boney:  We get the Word of God into our life by doing the Word of God.  Then Christ lives in us and we in Christ.

Romans 6:5-6, 10-12  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death (dead to this world and it's desires), we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection:  (for our focus is on things above not of things of this world)

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

10 For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God.
(Doing the will of God.)

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(The Word:  Doing the Word)

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

This is an example of the work of a New Testament prophet:

Acts 21:10-13  (NKJV)   10 And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.

11 When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”

12 Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem.

13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Comments by Joseph Meriweather:  The apostle Paul was willing to die for Christ's sake.   How many of us are willing to live for the name of Christ (the Word), forsaking all that we have for the Word of God?  Family members separating from you.  You will be tested.  I believe Christ will comfort you. (if your faith is in HIM)

James 1:2-4   My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Proverbs 10:2  Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

***

I Peter 4:19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to HIM in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

***

Philemon v. 6  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

As we share our faith and tell what God has done in our lives, we make our own faith "effectual".  It is like we receive a transfusion of Christ's blood into our veins by sharing Christ with others who are of Christ.
