Scriptures:

Before Jesus went to the cross, He prayed:

Luke 22:39-42  And HE (Jesus) came out, and went, as HE was wont, to the mount of Olives; and HIS disciples also followed HIM.

40 And when HE was at the place, HE said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

41 And HE was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

42 Saying, Father, if THOU be willing, remove this cup from ME: nevertheless not MY will, but THINE, be done.

Romans 8:38-39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalms 34:18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Comments by Pam Padgett:  This morning, something done by a young man I once worked with which caused trouble many years ago, came into my mind.  I reviewed what had happened, thinking on it. A short time later I thought of things said recently by a very scornful woman.

I was allowing my mind to think on what these people had said and done, and I was getting pulled down.

Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of Philippians 4:8. These are the things to think on, and I was completely changed inwardly as I thought on this.

These things strengthen and help me and allow me to live in peace.

Proverbs 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

James 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
