πŸ’₯ Doctrines of Christ presented by Paul to Timothy in Bible

II Timothy 3

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The doctrines of Christ for the New Testament church are presented in the NT Bible.

Although Paul wrote several epistles to the churches in the cities of his day, these are applicable to the churches today to edify us and guide us in ways of God.  These deliver us from the ways of this world.  We know God inspired these scriptures for our doctrines and instructions in godliness so we would not be swept away by sayings of this world and entangled by the happenings in this world today.

Paul also wrote epistles specifically for Timothy and Titus instructing them yet these too are for the New Testament churches.

In speaking to young Timothy, the apostle Paul reviewed many doctrines of Christ in the New Testament books of I Timothy and 2 Timothy.

Here are some of those doctrines which we are to follow in today's church and these scriptures greatly build our faith and show us what to do in our lives as the Holy Spirit calls them to our attention.

By these scriptures and all scriptures we find them to be:  profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The living Word of God from scriptures to us in today's churches.

I Timothy 1

3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

(fables:  stories that are fabricated or invented; made up stories)

5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain (useless and powerless) jangling;

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

1 Timothy 2:1-2  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I Timothy 2:9-10  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;  But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I Timothy 4

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

(These evil spirits bring thoughts to our minds ... we must be careful to uproot evil thoughts by prayer and scripture, establishing the true doctrines of Christ.  One woman in our church group came to me saying she no longer cared for anything.  She didn't read Bible or our blog.  I knew she had bought into thoughts from devils. We must take every thought captive to bring that thought into the obedience of Christ, The Word.)

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I Timothy 4

7 But refuse profane (worldly sayings)  and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

How can you exercise yourself unto godliness?  Bible reading; diligent prayer and thanksgiving to God; alertness to worldly sayings especially when they "seem" clever.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

1 Timothy 4:13  Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

* Read Bible and spiritual exhortations
* Exhort (warn and advise one another) in spiritual ways of God
* Reread doctrine from New Testament Bible and check your way to see that it is Biblical doctrine for sayings of men have a way of creeping into our thinking and grow in our hearts unless they are uprooted.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I Timothy 4:16  Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

I Timothy 5:22  Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

One woman was going to be bridesmaid at wedding where twice-divorced woman was remarrying.  She said she knew the wedding was wrong but they would marry anyway so she was going to go ahead and be bridesmaid.  (partaking of other people's sins)

Do the Word of God as instructed in the Holy Bible by the Holy Spirit bringing that Word of God to mind for it is "for the moment" in life as we live on this earth.

Review all doctrines from the New Testament Bible and promises of God from the Old Testament for there are many promises that are applicable to today's NT church.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

The way of God concerning money.

I Timothy 6

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will (want to) be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

(Instead live godly lives in front of your children.)

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

(God will never fail us and God will supply all our need by Christ Jesus, THE WORD.  If we need to do anything, God will show us by the Holy Spirit reminding us of a scripture, the Word, or by a dream.)

18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

(Devils will bring crazy things to our mind.  Devils will bring fear and try to drive us to do something. God gives us power, love and a sound mind.  The Holy Spirit will establish us by truth by scripture.)

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 1:13-14

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus (The Word).

14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

(The Holy Spirit, the comforter and the Spirit of Truth, will remind us of all things Jesus has said.)

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 2:3-4

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please HIM who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

(Beware of allowing yourself to become entangled with the affairs of this life, with happenings of this world.  These stories can entice us and intrigue us but it is God who leads us and provides for us.  News stories can frighten us.  And even cause us to go in ways that are not of God.  God will never fail us and will care for us always even if government of men fail.  Jesus also says, concerning wars:  "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.  Mt. 24:6-8)

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 2:11-13

11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with HIM, we shall also live with HIM:

12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with HIM: if we deny HIM, HE also will deny us:

13 If we believe not, yet HE abideth faithful: HE cannot deny Himself (The Word).

(I suffer with HIM, The Word, each time I see The Word violated either by humans or on TV.)

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 3

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of WHOM thou hast learned them;  (God teaches us spiritual things.)

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 4

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

(Speak as the occasion surfaces:  be instant.  Having a pure heart with no bones to pick.  Be lead by the Holy Spirit in that which HE calls to mind.  Say those things.  Pray that you speak what God wants spoken and trust God to bring to mind those things.)

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (stories made up by men).

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

2 Timothy 4

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

(Warn the church as needed.)

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto HIS heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
