πŸ’₯ Be not conformed to the thinking of this world.

As Christians, we must renew our minds to the teaching of the Bible.

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Last night I saw a movie which I liked, "A man named Otto."

As I watched the movie, I saw them do many things unscriptural not according to the Bible.

The man visited graveyard and took flowers to the grave of his dead wife and even took his lawn chair so he could sit there at her grave and talk to her.

As we see such things, knowing they are not things we as Christians do because the Bible teaches otherwise, it is also good for us to do what Paul said and "renew our minds" to the Word of God on the subject which the world does and speaks.

Concerning that dead person being in that grave:

According to the Bible, at the moment of death the spirit of that person who died leaves the body.

The spirit of the dead person falls asleep in Jesus when he is a Christian.

πŸ’₯  I Thessalonians 4:13-17

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.

(The dead person is asleep and will awaken when Jesus returns to gather the church.)

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (go before) them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord HIMSELF shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

My cousin's husband died.  She said Thurman patted her hand and then just fell asleep.

I said that is what happens when a person dies.  His spirit leaves his body and falls asleep.

Then she said she was going to take flowers to Thurman's grave next week.

I replied:  "Why?  Who are you trying to impress?  Thurman doesn't know you are at his grave.  So who are you trying to impress.  Thurman is not in that grave.  His dead body is in that grave but his spirit is not in that grave.  So he won't know you are there at his grave with flowers."

She thought about that which I said to her:  Then she replied, "Then it really doesn't matter where we are buried."

"Right."  I said to her.  (I think she was born again at that moment when truth from God came to her and she accepted God's truth on the matter at hand.)

James 2:26  For as the body without the spirit is dead,

When we die, our spirit leaves the body and sleeps in Jesus in heaven when we are Christians.

The dead do not watch over the living.  The dead person is asleep.  He cannot hear you.  He cannot watch over you for he is sleeping.  It is God who watches over the living.  Speak to God.

That which is buried in the ground is the dead body without the spirit.  It is like thinking a lock hair is that person.  It is not the soul of that dead person.  The soul (spirit) is sleeping in Jesus in heaven.
When Jesus returns Jesus will awaken that dead Christian along with the others who are still living in Christ.

All will receive new heavenly bodies and be taken to live in the new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.

I Corinthians 15:48-52

48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

(Blink ... that is how fast we will be changed into our new spiritual body, created in the image of God who is a spirit ...)

When Jesus returns, HE awakens the dead and takes the living in their new spiritual bodies into that new heaven and new earth created by God for the righteous in HIM.

Revelation 21:1-5

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

There is no marriage in heaven:

Matthew 22:29-30

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
