Comments by Joan Boney:
When we are reminded of a scripture it is usually God showing us what to do by HIS Holy Spirit.
Then we must be diligent to do that scripture in our own lives in an appropriate way.
I Corinthians 11
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread (the verses of the Bible), and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself (by the verses of the Bible), and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. (using the verses of the Bible to examine the way we are living, making what we do compatible with the verses.)
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die).

I once met a man who said he never read the Bible. He said, "For if I did, I would have to do it."

As a new Christian, I wanted to read the Bible and know the way to go on this earth. I loved the word and knew by that word in the Bible I could go in the right way of God, so I was "looking" for something to do by the Bible.
I was engaged to a man in Lubbock, Texas, when I was 66 years old. Howard was 69 when I met him. I was building a house from the money I gained In Clovis New Mexico when I lived with my mother. She died and I took the money from the sale of the property and found a contractor, bought a lot, and began building a house in Lubbock.
I bought a small house to live in while the contractor was building my house.
As the house was nearing completion my contractor told me I could put my little house in Lubbock up for sale. He told me the house would be completed by July 15, of that year in early 2000.
So I put the little house on the market and shockingly it sold immediately, that same week. I had to move out! And my house I was building was not finished!
Where would I live?
Howard said I could move into his apartment. But we weren't marrying until September! It was currently the month of July.
The people at the church told me to go ahead in move in with Howard. My church relatives told me to move in with Howard. Of course I asked God what to do.
The Holy Spirit reminded me of the following scripture.
I Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Moving in with Howard would give "the appearance of evil." But what should I do? God showed me to make the big loft area of the house into a finished room and live there until I could move downstairs. I asked the contractor if he could do that for me. He said he could. We had not planned to finish that loft but he did and I moved in. I put a small refrigerator and microwave in the closet area and washed dishes in the bath next to the closet. It worked perfectly.
We are greatly blessed when we obey and follow a scripture, especially when that verse is given us by the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to find out the will of God for us!
I Corinthians 2
9 But as it is written, (OT) Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
(But all believers in Jesus who are born of the Spirit of God have the Holy Spirit living in them to teach them ways of God. That was not the case in the Old Testament. They had to go to the prophet to find the will of God.)
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by HIS Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by HIS Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

The Holy Spirit lives inside the New Testament Christian to do the following for the believer.
John 14:26 Jesus says: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.
(To understand what the Holy Spirit does for us, spend time meditating on each of the scriptures which tell of the work of the Holy Spirit so you can build your faith in how the Spirit of Truth communicates with us to show us the will of God. I spent several months on these scriptures to understand how the Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to show us, the believer, the will of God.)
John 5:30 Jesus says: I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear (from God by HIS Holy Spirit), I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
