Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling HIS word:
About two weeks ago I could smell smoke from a wildfire burning south of Colorado Springs; I live just north of Colorado Springs. The sky also was hazy from the smoke. Knowing how quickly wildfires can spread, seeing and smelling the smoke made the threat of fire very real.
I began considering what I should prepare in case the fire moved north and we needed to evacuate. With 3 cats and 2 dogs, a lot would be involved. Just getting the cats into carriers would be a challenge, and three of the animals are older and need special foods and medications which wouldn't be easily available if I forgot to take them. While thinking about all that would be needed if we had to evacuate, I began praying, asking God to help me make all needed preparations.

But then, I was reminded by the Holy Spirit that God is in charge of fire and the concept was given to me to ask God to not let the fires come near enough that we would need to evacuate.
So that is what I did, asking God to keep us safe from the fire. The fire did not come near my house.
Earlier this week, I received an alert that another fire broke
out, and it was only about 2 miles west of my house. Before long, I
started hearing sirens of many emergency vehicles. Being so close to
the fire, I began to panic ... until the Holy Spirit reminded me to pray and ask if there was anything I needed to do. Again, I was reminded that God is in control of fires and also that HE knows the future and what is needed. I wasn't led by God to take any action (although my flesh had plenty of ideas of what I should do!). Within a few hours, the fire was contained. I didn't need to do anything.
Knowing that God is in control of fires and all weather events, that
HE knows the future and what (if anything) we need to do, and that HE
cares for us and leads us by HIS Spirit, is wonderful help for us.
