I Corinthians 3:18:19

Let no man deceive himself.

If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

The first downfall of the flesh was the desire to be wise of his own self, apart from God, figuring it out by his own mind ... the desire to be as God, thus replacing God...  to glory in himself and his own achievements ...  to be seen by other people as being wise, apart from God.

Genesis 3:6    And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

From the time I was born again in 1975, God taught me to seek HIM for HIS wisdom and to resist trying to learn by myself.

I was taken to various scripture for several months to cause me to focus on asking God for HIS wisdom.

I Corinthians 2:1-2    And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

4-5  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Proverbs 3:5-7    Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and HE shall direct thy paths.  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Psalm 111:10   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do HIS commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 2:1-8    My son, if thou wilt receive MY words, and hide MY commandments with thee;  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
  (by calling upon God)  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of HIS mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

HE layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: HE is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

HE keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of HIS saints.

Proverbs 3:13-15    Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

When we seek God's wisdom, asking God to give us HIS wisdom ...

Proverbs 3:23    Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble... 26  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

As I kept scriptures such as these before me day and night, God convinced me that the only way for me to go was to go in HIS wisdom, asking God for HIS wisdom.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

So often the person wants to have people see himself as wise, apart from God, by his own ability.

Such people desire the praise of man for themselves.

This is sad and tragic.

Seek the wisdom that comes from God by asking God to give you wisdom in all things ... then when other humans begin to praise you, give glory to God by telling them you simply did that which God showed you to do.

Those people who are of God will glorify God when they hear what God has done in your life.
