Proverbs 3:5-7

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and HE shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes:
Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Comments by Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

*  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;  ... Through sincere prayer to God, we place our trust in God, showing our trust is in God.

Lean not unto thine own understanding ... Don't go by your own ideas or by what other humans say ... Pray, asking God what HE thinks,  asking God to show you HIS wisdom in the matter at hand.

*  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and HE shall direct thy paths ... If we pray over everything, acknowledging God in all issues of our life ... we have the promise that God will direct our paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil ... One of the primary evils to depart from is the evil of being wise in your own way of thinking ... Instead "fear the Lord", knowing that God knows the best way for you to go, therefore consulting HIM concerning what you should do in the situation.

Seek wisdom from God by asking God in prayer what you should do.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

When I was first born again, for several years, God had me view scripture in Bible concerning wisdom. I was very convinced to set aside my former way of life where I would try to learn by study, by my own mind. (I have an earned doctorate from University of North Texas, 1966)

A teacher at the church I was attending made fun of me because I was continually quoting scripture concerning asking God for wisdom.

This man had a 170 IQ ... I believe his intelligence was one of his stumbling blocks for he thought he could preach by what he conjured up. His preaching was often boring but once in a while the Holy Spirit did break through and he would say something worthwhile.

When my cousin's brother died, her step-son (who fancied himself a preacher at Church of Christ), was going to preach the funeral. I happened to go to his house the day before the funeral. He and his dad (my cousin's husband ... a medical doctor ... and long time Church of Christ member) were sitting at a table where many large books were scattered about them. They were using all these books to prepare JL's funeral, showing Richi what to say.

I thought, why not just ask God what you should say?

Like Paul, I wanted to do the following.

I Corinthians 2:1-5 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

(Knowing Jesus Christ, the WORD ... not leaning to clever stories to entice men to myself.)

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

(I know I have "much trembling" when I write or speak, resisting my own flesh and depending on God to show me by HIS Spirit what HE wants me to say, putting my trust in God by asking God to show me what to write or speak.)

I Corinthians 2 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

I really hate the cleverness of man.
