In the 1980's, I had a dream where the earth slipped on it's axis. People were terrified. The politicians were meeting with the scientists and with the religious leaders to see what to try to do.
(Of course nothing can be done for this defies man and shows man he is not in control.)
One of the most graphic parts of this dream concerned a TV newsman who was trying to tell the story on TV news, of what was happening. He was so frightened he couldn't finish the news telecast and he just stopped speaking. He knew it affected him and not just people on the other side of the camera.

No one other than God knows the day and the hour of the return of Jesus and the pouring out of the stages of the wrath of God upon the people who are on the earth at that time.
We know it is coming because of what we read in the Bible.
No man will destroy the earth. God will destroy the heavens and the earth in the wrath of God.
Jesus told us HE would return in a time we think not. And HIS return will be as a thief in the night who strikes and steals accumulations of man.
I Thessalonians 5:1-11 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
(We don't need to watch for events of the world shown on TV for no one will miss the story when the entire earth slips on it's axis, hanging by a "thread" in space ... but rather we need to watch how we live on this earth, keeping ourselves in peace, without spot, and blameless (II Tim. 3:14), so we will not be ashamed in any way when Jesus appears.)

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
(Salvation as we cling to The Word, we cling to Jesus.)
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Will the church be removed from this earth before the great tribulation, before the wrath of God is poured out on this earth?
There are those who are the church who cling to the Word of God, the scriptures, refusing to compromise the doctrines brought into the church by man.
There are those who sit in the church group and go along with the compromise of Bible doctrine.
I believe the individual church people who cling to scripture and refuse antichrist will be removed before, or at some early point, when the wrath of God comes on the earth.
I believe the whole wrath of God will come upon the apostate church, the church who falls away from Bible doctrine.

Here are some things we know from the Bible.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep (dead).
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep (dead).
For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
A key point is we meet the Lord "in the air", not on this earth but in the air.
This present earth will be destroyed by God in HIS Wrath.
II Peter 3:10-14 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased HIM, and to every seed his own body.

I believe what God is showing us is when Jesus returns, the dead in Christ rise, then those in Christ who have clung to the doctrine of the Bible, will be changed out of these current human bodies and they will rise to meet Jesus and the newly resurrected in the air and to be taken to the new Jerusalem, the new heaven and new earth which God has prepared for HIS people.
We will not have these current earthly bodies in heaven.
The apostle Paul tells us this:
I Corinthians 15:50-51 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Everyone will be given a new body, a spiritual body, before being taken to the new Jerusalem.
The dead will not be raised in the bodies they had on this present earth. Neither will the living have the bodies they had on this earth, but will be given a new body when they are changed and raised from this earth.
Paul talks about this in I Corinthians 15.
35-38 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

Peter speaks of the new heaven and the new earth "wherein dwelleth righteousness."

We will never be able to make this present earth righteous. Nor can we make this present flesh righteous, except through doing the word of God. As long as we have this flesh we will have pain, sorrow, temptations of the flesh, even after we are born again.
Therefore in the new heavens and new earth we will not have these present fleshly bodies but God will give us new bodies according to that which pleases HIM.
The apostle John wrote about this as follows:
Revelation 21:1-5 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
