Volume 7 ... #25
Righteousness of God

Romans 4 ... 1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on HIM that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

None of us want to do wrong.  We want to serve God and not our flesh.  But sometimes we do slip into the flesh and speak fleshly things.  But even when we do this, we know God is still with us, we still belong to God.  And our continual fellowship is with God and HIS Spirit is in us.

Our righteousness is like Abraham's ... it comes because we believe God, not because of our works.

We certainly do works by faith.  Works show our faith.  Faith without works is dead.

But our righteousness is because God (a spirit) revealed HIMSELF to us and we believed Him.

That righteousness will not fail us for it is belief in God and not in ourselves.

Romans 4 ... 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

This is the new covenant made possible by Jesus' sacrifice of HIS own blood to take away our sins.

Hebrews 10 ...  16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put MY laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
