Unruly and vain  talkers and deceivers

Paul describes religious people of his day in the following statement:

Titus 1:10-11   For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

We can certainly see that Paul was concerned over that being spoken in the NT church.

Paul once told Timothy the following:

I Timothy 1:3-4    As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

Men were carrying false doctrine into the church.  Some were focused on tracing ancestors which is of no edification at all to the church.  Some told fables to the church, tickling the flesh, to no edification.

Today we have the same thing among the church both in ministers and in church people.

When we speak we need to pay attention to what we say that it be based on scriptural truth.

One woman told me, after her husband died, that she couldn't wait to die and join him in heaven.  (a Baptist woman)

I wondered if she knew there would be no marriage in heaven as we have on this earth.  She acted as if she and her dead husband would get together and set up housekeeping in heaven.

Here is what Jesus told us about the resurrection.

Matthew 22:30    For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

The prophet Isaiah gave us a view into life in heaven when he said the following:

Isaiah 65:17   For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Since the "former" will not be remembered nor come into mind, will we even remember the earth and our lives on this earth, our relatives here and such?  I doubt it.

Isaiah 65:18-19   But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in MY people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

The "Jerusalem" will be "the new Jerusalem" that the apostle John described in Revelation 21.

We won't have these earthly bodies in heaven.  We will be given new forms.  I Corinthians 15

It would be a terrible problem if we could remember this life and if we had our current bodies where we recognized one another from this earth.  For then wouldn't we be hunting those persons we knew on this earth?  And what if they were not there?  We would be grieved, wouldn't we?

But there will be no sorrow nor tears in heaven.

We cannot live in fleshly fables of our own mind, but need to reconstruct our thinking based on what the Bible allows us to see about heaven.

There are many books and movies showing dead people with bodily forms like they have on this earth, looking down on humans who live on this earth, and even guiding these humans.

This is very non-scriptural.

Dead people are asleep.  Dead people do not watch over the living.  What does the Bible show us?

John 11:1    Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany

11-13    These things said HE: and after that HE saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

Then said HIS disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that HE had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

Death is like being asleep.  When Jesus returns with a shout, those who are asleep (dead) will awaken.

Concerning those who die in the Lord ... the apostle Paul told us the following:

I Thessalonians 4:13-16    But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

That dead person is asleep.

We can relate to being asleep for each of us sleep at night.  We fall asleep and time passes.  When we awaken we often can't believe all those hours passed.

The apostle Paul is asleep now.  Decades have passed since Paul's earthly life ended.

When Jesus returns "with a shout",  Paul and all others who are dead in Christ will rise to meet Jesus in the air.  Until that time, Paul sleeps.

To say a dead person went to "be with the Lord" is unscriptural.

That dead person is asleep and will rise when Jesus returns.

I know a Baptist woman whose husband died.  She said to me, "RB and my bother-in-law are in heaven now.  I can see them enjoying a beer and watching the Cowboys."  (football team)

I was shocked.  This was a belief being held by a Baptist woman.  Somehow she was "comforted" in her thinking otherwise she would not have told it this way.  But such fleshly comfort will not stand the test of time and at some point we will become very shaken if we base our belief on that which is not true.  

Dead people are asleep.  Why can't we just say, "He died."  If we believe in the resurrection from the dead we will have joy, knowing this sleep is temporary.

If we, as Christians, tell others that which is false about such things, we do harm toward them.

We should consider all things we say and conform our doctrine to Bible and keep our thinking about issues in line with that which the Bible shows us.

Therefore Paul says:

Romans 12:2    And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

In August, 2017, a man in our church group died. 

Here is a letter I wrote to his widow. 

Very quickly now you must enter into your new life.

That life you once had ended.

To try to cling to that life with John, the memory of that life will be death for you.

You must make yourself go forward in God in the new life that remains on this earth. 

I've seen too many widows try to cling to dead husbands.  I know this is death to do this.

When I saw my mother try to do this when my dad died, I said to her, "You can go down, but I won't go with you." 

She awoke and said, "I don't want you to go down." 

She got better.

I have a cousin, who is Church of Christ.  Two years after death of her husband she was still trying to cling to husband.

Often I hear women say, "I want to live where we lived for I feel closer to him there." 

We don't need to feel closer to the dead person.  That is death for us.

These are a few things to beware of.

We can't allow ourselves to cling to a past life.  Some people try to cling to their childhood and look back longingly.  This is a type of death, like Lot's wife encountered when she looked back longingly at Sodom in the destruction.

Each of us have times when we would like to go back.

Like those going through the Red Sea, we must realize we have to go forward.  There was no way for them to go but forward.  The sea was walled up on their right and left.  Pharaoh and his army of 600 chariots were behind them with goal to capture them and take them back into slavery.

For us to wallow in past and to allow our mind this perceived luxury, is a type of death and slavery.

The past is over.

We must live in now, this moment, in reality.

But we have a mighty help to do this.  God.

The apostle Paul made the direction clear to us when he said the following:

Philippians 3:13-15    Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded.

It takes faith in God.

Daily I awaken with nothing to do and no humans in my midst.  At first it is frightening.  Then I begin praying, "God help me." ...  "Please God, fill my day." ...  HE does.

God is our only hope today and in going forward.  

Once God said to me:  "One step at a time.  It is enough."

Take that step that is brought to your mind.  If you are reminded of Bible, read Bible.  If you are reminded of something secular, take care of that.  Just follow the Spirit of God who reminds us of that which is in the heart of God.

And we can know the wisdom that is from God by the following:

James 3:17    But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Sometimes God uses angels to help

God uses HIS angels to accomplish HIS purpose as HE wills.

Hebrews 1:14    Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Psalm 91:11    For HE shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Psalm 103:20    Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word.

Matthew 4:11    Then the devil leaveth Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.

Mark 13:27    And then shall He send His angels, and shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

As humans, it is sometimes hard to picture how angels can do things we can't even imagine.

But when it is the will of God and God sends an angel to accomplish HIS purpose, we see amazing things.

Acts 12:1-11    Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.  And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.  And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

(Peter was heavily guarded.  Bound by chains, both arms attached to a soldier and a keeper was outside the door of the prison.)

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

After showing himself to the church, Peter fled the city and went to Caesarea.

God slays Herod by an angel:  Acts 12:21-24    And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

But the word of God grew and multiplied.

As I was sleeping the night of January 10, 1980, I was awaken by a trumpet-like voice blowing three words into my ears:  "Hartford, Seattle, KWJS"

I believe that was an angel of God speaking God's message to me.

We have numerous accounts in Bible of a very loud voice speaking, and often it is an angel.

Also we read of "a very great voice" speaking.  I always note that when I read it, perhaps because I know the power that can come in such a voice.

A second experience I believe I've had with angels is during the time in 1982 when I was greatly persecuted by the church because of the radio messages.

I had this dream:  It was as if I had been shot in the chest by a shotgun.  Wounds were all over my chest area.  A "man" came with a type of salve and began putting the ointment into the holes.  It felt so good.

I believe that was an angel.

Know this:  God has this power to help us.  It is just one way God can help us but we certainly have many examples of angels being sent to help.

And we see how Elisha was not afraid because he was aware he was surrounded by angels when the host of the king of Syria sent men and chariots out to capture Elisha.  They surrounded the city and the servant of Elisha saw this and greatly feared.

II Kings 6:14-17    Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

And he (Elisha) answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.

And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

As long as God wants to keep us on this present earth, HE will make a way in our circumstances.

The examples in the Bible and the examples of that which God has done in our lives in the past are greatly used by God to strengthen us for the time in which we currently live.

Steadfastly focus on such.

Genesis 22:11    And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

Genesis 31:11    And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

Genesis 32:1   And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

Exodus 23:20-23    Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for My name is in him.

But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.


II Kings 19:35    And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

I Chronicles 21:15    And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it:

Psalm 34:7    The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.

Psalm 78:49    HE cast upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

Psalm 103:20    Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

³ And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me.

⁴ But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

⁵ But now I go my way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asketh Me, Whither goest thou?

⁶ But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

How can I get through today?

Every morning, I awaken and have no plans at all for the day.  I live alone and there are no people to visit with (or to be troubled over).

This can be frightening to our flesh!

Sometimes I begin calling out to God:  "Help me!"  ...  "Please fill my day."

I don't know how it is or can be, but God does it!

Often at night, around 7 pm, when I have about 2 1/2 hours before I go to my bedroom, I don't know how I can fill my time.

I usually do not like television.

It just seems impossible to get from 7 to 9:30.

I call on God.

Amazingly, HE makes a way, one way or another and before I know it time has passed!

How can I get through today?  is a thought common to all at some points in our lives.

I Corinthians 10:13    There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

When we call on God in faith, it is amazing how things develop.

One night, it seemed there was no way to pass the time.

But my attention was drawn to a TV series which doesn't sound like it would be interesting but when I viewed a little of the presentation, I found it so interesting that I even called another person and told her she might enjoy this series.  (She said that is never anything she would have thought to look at.)

Not only did I pass the time that night but I got so interested in the program I ended up going about an hour past my normal bedtime.

I find life to be a bit of a struggle.

But I've also found God makes a way for us to be able to bear it.

And I believe this:  God does not allow more than we can endure to happen to us.

Often I see people going through things which I feel I could not endure but these things are not happening to me.  There are things in my life that others might think they could not endure but God makes it possible for me to endure that which is happening to me.

I know I belong to God.  I know I am called according to HIS purpose.  I know the following applies to me.

Romans 8:28    And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to HIS purpose.

When you believe God has shown you to do something or to say something

We must focus on this:

I Corinthians 15:57-58    But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

We just sit and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in the review of the situation ... especially in the thinking concerning why we believe it was God leading us.

And we holy fast to that.

* Instruction in Righteousness: John 15

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

² Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

³ Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.

⁵ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.

⁶ If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

⁷ If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

⁸ Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples.

⁹ As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love.

¹⁰ If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love.

¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

¹² This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

¹³ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁴ Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

¹⁵ Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of (from) My Father I have made known unto you.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.

¹⁷ These things I command you, that ye love one another.

¹⁸ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord.

If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.

²¹ But all these things will they do unto you for My name's sake, because they know not Him that sent Me.

²² If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

²³ He that hateth Me hateth My Father also.

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

²⁵ But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated Me without a cause.

²⁶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me:

²⁷ And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with Me from the beginning.

Are you a friend of the world?

I'm not a friend of the world.

I do not support, nor approve, adultery, fornication, homosexual/lesbian, drunkards.

If you are a friend of the world, the world will love you, says Jesus.

John 15:18-19    If the world hate you, ye know that it hated ME before it hated you.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Before I was born again, I was a friend of the world.  

A young woman lived with her boyfriend.  I went to dinner at their apartment.  He wore shoulder length hair.  I was their friend, supporting them in their sins.  I had no idea at the time this was sin.  I just viewed what they were doing as personal preferences.

I was attracted to a writer at Dallas Morning News.  I learned he was homosexual.  I was sorry, for I would have enjoyed him.  I didn't realize this was sin.

But after I was born again, I was removed from the darkness of this world and translated into the kingdom of Christ, the Word.  

I was given the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit.

Then I was no longer a supporter of sins of this world.

I see such sins on TV, although the minute they come on screen I quickly close my eyes and stop the program as fast as I can, not wanting to partake of their sins.

Now I am an enemy of the world. 

Certainly it would hate me if it knew I existed, for I will reveal its sins.

Several years ago, my neighbor came to me asking if I would consider renting him a room at my house for the approaching week-end.  He said they were celebrating an anniversary and several were coming from out of town and he did not have room to house them.

I told him I would not rent a room but he was welcome to use my spare room.

He said he needed a space for his wife's daughter and her friend.

I was jarred immediately ... "Her friend?"  ... What is this?

He said they are lesbians.

I told him I could not allow this in my house.  But if he had a married couple, they could use the room.

He said he didn't approve of lesbians either.

He apparently told his wife what I said.  She had been friendly.  After this she showed hostility toward me.

This is what happens when we show ourselves to belong to God.  

Like Moses we esteem Christ of greater riches than the riches of this world.  Hebrews 11

We suffer the rebuke for Christ's sake.

James 4:4    Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Don't think you can approve the world while serving God.

Many churches today open their doors and welcome the world and their sins under the deception.

They do not speak of these sins.  

In such cases, no one repents for sins are accepted and even approved by church groups.

Accept all, tolerate all is their new doctrine.  All sin like this is greeted under the guise of love.

It is the end time apostasy in the church.  Lawlessness in the church.

II Thessalonians 2    NASB   

Man of Lawlessness

3-8    Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the day of the Lord) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes (opposes scripture) and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.   Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?   And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.   For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.  Then that lawless one will be revealed

When the scriptures were removed, even in part, the restraint holding antichrist out of the church group was removed and lawlessness against the scripture moved into the church.

The apostasy of the end times.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth ME shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jesus, THE WORD, is the light of the world.

If anyone can catch onto HIS WORD and do that Word, he will walk in light.

And if he continues to walk in the Word, he is HIS disciple.  John 8

And that person who continues walking in HIS word, will know the truth and the truth will make him free.

²⁸ Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved Me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for My Father is greater than I.

²⁹ And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

The Comforter:  The Spirit of Truth

John 15:26    Jesus says:  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of Me:

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, providing truth from God and assurance to us which relieves us from fear and anxiety.

Humans often try to comfort a suffering person but they do such in fleshly ways, often speaking platitudes which mean little or nothing.

When a man in our church group died, I gave his widow the following.

I Thessalonians 4:13-17    But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.    For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep.

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

She wrote me and said everyone else around her just gave fleshly statements to her.  I was the only one who spoke something spiritual.

Paul said to comfort them with these words, so that is what I do in such times.

I Thessalonians 4:18    Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Those who are of God will receive the comfort of the truth in times of death.

We can feel very sorry for a person and not be able to do anything to help.

But the Holy Spirit is the Helper and that help provided by the Holy Spirit is help in truth and is no lie and will endure forever for it is the word from the Heart of God at that moment in time.

The scriptures teach us that the Holy Spirit brings to our mind those things that are of God.  I Corinthians 2

These things are not of his own thinking nor of the flesh of man but of God for the Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to reveal to us the thoughts of God to help us completely in times of need.

Focus on that brought to mind by the Holy Spirit.

Christmas Day

Most people expect a great deal from Christmas Day and are often depressed when it fails to live up to their expectations.

Even some of us get caught up in the image of what humans expect this day to be.

Here are some scriptures which set us free when we choose to live by them.

Romans 12:2    Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Instead follow this:

Colossians 3:1-7    If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

John 16:33   In the world ye shall have tribulation:

We can step into the tribulation of this world by choosing to go their way and do their activities.

Or we can just abstain from such and choose another way.

We continually rejoice each day that God made a way of salvation for us... that Jesus came to this earth in fleshly form as a human to suffer all things we suffer, to die for us that we be saved by HIS sacrifice for us.

The greatest thing that can ever happen to us is for God to reveal HIMSELF to us and to give us HIS Spirit to live in us.

If we have that, we have everything.

Rejoice in that ... that your name is written in heaven!

Our hope is in HIM, not in ourselves.

Romans 8:19-23   For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

I Corinthians 15:50-52    Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed,

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Blink:  That is how quickly we will be changed out of these present human bodies.  We will be given new, spiritual bodies.  There will be no more pain of the flesh for we will not have this flesh.  Therefore we will not sorrow for it is the flesh that causes sorrow.  We will not have any physical pains for that, too, is our flesh which we will no longer have.  But we will be changed into spiritual  bodies and will be like the angels, continually focused on God and able to worship HIM. 

(For it is our flesh and the desires of the flesh and the thinking of things of this world that interrupt our thoughts of God.)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
