Hebrews 9

1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 

2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. 

3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
 
6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. 

7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: 8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
 
11 But Christ being come AN HIGH PRIEST of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by HIS own blood HE entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.  

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, WHO through the eternal Spirit offered HIMSELF without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the LIVING God? 

15 And for this cause HE is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
 
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 

17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. 

18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
 
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

25 Nor yet that HE should offer HIMSELF often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must HE often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath HE appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of HIMSELF. 

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for HIM shall HE appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Action Taken as we Draw Closer to the End

I find my life changing as I draw closer to the end. 

The end comes by Jesus returning or the end comes when we near physical death. 

(I feel fine physically but there has been a substantial change in what I am doing each day of my life.)

Each of us realize there are some things that are not profitable for us, things stirring up our flesh in various ways.  I find it unprofitable to allow a curiosity about what people are doing in the world to lead me to watch newscasts... for newscasts stir me up, troubling me.

Therefore I usually do not watch newscasts. 

There are TV shows that trouble me.  Some secular books trouble me needlessly.  I just stop participating when I realize this is happening.

Today I cut back my TV package, thus eliminating some stations which present temptations for me.

Immediately after I terminated these TV stations, the Holy Spirit called the following scripture to my attention:

Romans 13:14 ... But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

This is exactly what I have been doing for the past week or so.

Instead of visiting by phone individuals who often vex me by their words (even individuals in our own church group are prone to doing this), instead I visit friends of the Bible at night.

Friends such as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ... Dan. 3

David  ... I Sam. 17

Abraham ... Gen. 12

Moses ... Exodus 1

As the iniquity of the churches and the world increases around us, there is special danger for us.

(If individuals in our church friends will not discipline themselves, how can we visit them and be vexed by their words caused by that which they are picking up from their choices on this earth.)

Jesus warned concerning the end times:  Mt. 24 ... And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

For many years, since 1982, I have found much twisting of scripture in churches by pastors as I have tried to find a church to attend.  I didn't know why this was happening.  I was bewildered. 

In April 2017, God gave me one word to reveal what is going on in our churches today ...

"restraint" ... the restraint against antichrist was removed when portions of scripture that held antichrist back was eliminated from the church group ... thus what we are seeing today is apostasy in our church groups.

Paul said this apostasy had to happen before Jesus could return.

II Thess. 2 ... NASB ... Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the day of the LORD) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?

And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed

The restraint was the scripture.  When portions of scripture were removed from the church, lawlessness moved into the churches ... thus the apostasy in the churches.

You will say, "My church isn't a part of the apostasy."  (and you will be so proud)

Does your church teach the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery?  This is what Jesus said:  Mt. 5:32

If your church allows men to marry divorced women, it is a part of the apostasy.

Most church goers will be totally blind to what is going on at their own church.

But if you are troubled by some of the doctrine today at your church group, and that doctrine doesn't fit what you read in the Bible, then what I am reporting here will help you to see what is going on.

No one knows exactly when Jesus will return but we are aware of certain signs ... When leaves come on the trees, we know summer is near.

When iniquity abounds, the cup is filling leading toward the day God removes us and brings HIS Wrath upon this present world.

Just like the day of Noah and the flood.  God shut the door of the ark and the rain began.

I believe we have to take personal action to remove ourselves from today's iniquity whether it is iniquity in the church group or iniquity of this world.

And we need to replace the empty feeling with godly men and women ... which we have access to in the Bible.  We choose to fill our spare time visiting with these folks!

I believe it is very serious now.

Exodus 14 ...

And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

God has a way to separate us from current enemies.  HIS angel stands between us so when they think of coming to us to attack us, they see darkness ... But God's way is light to us.

Example:

My neighbor who lived behind me (he is dead now), came to me asking if I would consider "renting" him a room.  He had overflow of guests coming in for a celebration and wanted to rent a room at my house for two people.  I said I would not consider renting a room but he could certainly use a room.  He said his wife's daughter and her "friend" needed a place to sleep. 


Then it hit me ... "Her friend?"  what does this mean, I asked.

He said they are lesbians.

I told him I couldn't have that in my house but if there was a married couple that would work.

He replied he didn't approve of lesbians either. 

I never heard any more from him.

About two years passed.  Unknown to me he died.  I saw his wife and inquired about him and she told me.  I expressed my sorrow.  Then she said, "I want to talk with you."  I told her I would certainly be delighted to do that.  She said, "I will come over to your house tonight."  I said, "Fine."

I prepared some wine and cheese for her visit.

It grew later and later.  I had turned on my porch light for her in the back.  She lives directly behind my house.

But she didn't come and I heard nothing from her.  (That was about 2 years ago.)

As I wondered what happened to her, I recalled the lesbian situation and I realized she wanted to come and have it out with me, attack me, and I knew God had spared me by stopping her.

Hebrews 8

1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum:
We have such an HIGH PRIEST, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A MINISTER of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
 
3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that THIS MAN have somewhat also to offer. 

4 For if HE were on earth, HE should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished (warned) of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith HE, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. 

6 But now hath HE obtained A MORE EXCELLENT MINISTRY, by how much also HE is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
 
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 

8 For finding fault with them, HE saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in MY covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord;  

I will put MY laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to ME a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know ME, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
 
13 In that HE saith, A new covenant, HE hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The Easy Way or The Hard Way

God accomplishes HIS own purpose in each of our lives by HIS own way.  By the time God works the circumstance, that which HE wants to happen in each life will happen.

The question is:  Do we want to do this the easy way?  or the hard way?

In 1981, God showed me something Kenneth Copeland was allowing in his ministry that was wrong.  They had taken up a "Birthday offering" to send Copeland and his wife to Hawaii.  (I doubt the IRS would approve such an offering for a minister.)

When I could not get a message to Copeland, I was having a meeting in Fort Worth, where Copeland lived at the time and many of his followers lived.  I knew a great many Copeland people would attend my meeting so I decided to give the message at my meeting, feeling the message would then get back to Copeland. 

The person in charge of my office staff was embarrassed knowing that I was going to do this and she said to me:  "Just let me ask you one thing?  Is this an easy yoke?"

I replied:  "It is easier to do what God wants you to do than not to do it."

It is always that way.

Jonah 1

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before ME.

But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.

So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.

Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech THEE, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for THOU, O LORD, hast done as it pleased THEE.

So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 2

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and HE heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and THOU heardest my voice.

For THOU hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all THY billows and THY waves passed over me.

Then I said, I am cast out of THY sight; yet I will look again toward THY holy temple.

The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast THOU brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto THEE, into THINE holy temple.

They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

But I will sacrifice unto THEE with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Jonah 3 

And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD.

In 1981, when I was on radio, God began to speak to me the following: 

The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God ... The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God ... The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.

Shortly after that, God showed me sin in various big-time ministers lives and ministries.

When I couldn't get a message to them in private, I decided to speak the message on my radio broadcasts, naming the ministers by name along with the sins being committed.

I saw that the apostle Paul had done this warning the church about a man by name and telling what he had done.

II Tim. 4:14-15 ... Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

During this time, I had a meeting in Seattle. 

When I arrived at the meeting room, the manager of the radio station in Seattle was waiting for me outside the door of the meeting room.

George said:  "Joan, you have many wonderful messages.  Just speak those.  If you continue speaking these judgment messages, I don't know what is going to happen to you.  We might have to put you off the air."

Without any thought at all, the Holy Spirit spoke the following words through me.

"If I don't speak the message I believe to be from God, then I don't have a message and I may-as-well be off the air."

About 1/2 of my stations put me off the air and about 1/2 left me on.  I continued speaking that which I believed to be from God, as I have continued doing.

The apostle Paul said of himself:  (Acts 20)

Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

* Psalm 64

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer:
preserve my life from fear of the enemy. 

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: 

Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

Is there anything in future that troubles you?

The apostle Paul told us what to do if there is anything in our future that troubles us ...

Phil. 4 ... 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Lay the troublesome situation out before God in prayer.  Pour your heart out to God in prayer.  Tell God how you feel and ask Him to help you.

If you have something you don't know exactly how to face or how to handle, do the following.

James 1:5 ...  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

 Hebrews 7

 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
 
4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. 5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 

7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 

8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there HE receiveth them, OF WHOM it is witnessed that HE liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
 
11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that ANOTHER PRIEST should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 

13 For HE of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 

15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth ANOTHER PRIEST, 16 WHO is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 

17 For HE testifieth, THOU art A PRIEST for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
 
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 

19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of A BETTER HOPE did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
 
20 And inasmuch as not without an oath HE was made priest:

21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by HIM that said unto HIM, The Lord sware and will not repent, THOU art A PRIEST for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) 

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
 
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24 But THIS MAN, because HE continueth ever, hath an UNCHANGEABLE PRIESTHOOD. 

25 Wherefore HE is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by HIM, seeing HE ever liveth to make intercession for them.
 
26 For such AN HIGH PRIEST became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 WHO needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for HIS own sins, and then for the people's: for this HE did once, when HE offered up HIMSELF. 

28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Resisting Deliverance

God used Joseph as an instrument to preserve the children of Israel in time of great famine.

The children of Israel remained in Egypt through the lives of various Pharaohs.  Joseph was long dead and circumstances changed greatly from Joseph's time.  Now things have become very hard for them in Egypt.  They have been there for generations covering 400 years.  God told Abraham these things would happen and also told Abraham that HE, God, would deliver them from Egypt in 400 years.

Genesis 15

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

400-years has passed and it is time for God to deliver HIS people.

Exodus 1

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

Things are about to get much worse for the children of Israel in Egypt.

And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

This is an intolerable situation to think of having to kill your own baby sons.

Sometimes things get worse before they get better so when the way of deliverance appears you are very ready to go in that way.

Our flesh resists change and clings to past even when things in past were extremely bad.

God works our circumstances so that we rejoice going out.

* Psalm 63

When we published with Amazon, Vol. 4, Exhortations for the Church, concerning apostasy in today's churches, I wanted very much to send this to a woman who had left Baptist church saying, "There's just nothing there ... it's so watered down."  

I asked God if I should send this book to her.

Then I was reminded of 4 people who were with me many years ago ... and I knew to send a book to each of them ...

"YES ... God was saying to me ... Send the book to this woman and also send the book to these other 4 people." 

We are lights ... in a crooked and perverse nation ... 

Hold forth the Word of Life ... Let that light shine ...

Endurance in the Last Days

Endurance in the last days is so difficult because iniquity abounds says Jesus.  Mt. 24

Paul says these will be "perilous times" (II Tim. 3) and indeed they are.

One way to build ourselves up in this time is by visiting the godly men and women of the Bible.

Would you rather spend an evening with Abraham or watch a TV show? 

Do you know any really godly women? 

As things grow worse and worse both in the churches and in the world, try substituting the people who vex you for various individuals of the Bible.

This one statement by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is enough to give us joy and cause us to think of things above.

They said to the king: (Daniel 3)

"O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Or try reading the chapters about Abraham starting at Genesis 12.

Some of my favorite pick-me-up stories are the actions of God in Exodus 1-14.

Lot chose to live in Sodom.  God got him out before the destruction.

II Peter 2 ... And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Allow God to deliver you nightly.  Turn to these great stories in the Old Testament and refresh yourselves from those who vex you continually on this earth.  Make these great men and women of the Bible your friends.  That's what I do.

Hebrews 6

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put HIM to an open shame.
 
7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
 
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward HIS name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 

11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
 
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because HE could swear by no greater, HE sware by HIMSELF, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 

15 And so, after he (Abraham) had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 

16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 

17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability (something that will not change) of HIS counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
 
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made AN HIGH PRIEST for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

* Psalm 62

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from HIM cometh my salvation.
 
HE ONLY is my ROCK and my salvation;
HE is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

Volume 5 ... #15

 Rejoice in the Lord

To me, this instruction given by Paul, to rejoice in the Lord, means to rejoice in that which God has said to you by HIS Spirit.

I thought on this and remembered the following:

I Thess. 4 ... 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep (dead).

16 For the Lord HIMSELF shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

For several days, the Holy Spirit said to me: "in the air" 

And I thought on this scripture often.  I also thought on II Peter 3 where Peter tells us this present heaven and earth will be destroyed.  I thought on Revelation 21 where John described for us the new heaven and the new earth, "wherein dwelleth righteousness."

I rejoiced in these things.

When a young man said the Bible was "legalistic", I grieved ... until I turned to God and was reminded of the following words of Jesus ...

Mt. 7 ...  13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Then I rejoiced greatly!  The Bible is a narrow path through the destruction of this world.  As long as we stay on the path, we get through the destruction unscathed.

I Jn. 1:7 ... But if we walk in the light, as HE is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ HIS Son cleanseth us from all sin.

To rejoice in the Lord ... think of the last word given you by the Holy Spirit ... and rejoice in that word. 

The "Lord" is "The Word.
