After we are born again, it is a very serious matter to continue to participate in superstitions which many of us once held.
Paul even tells us they which do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
* I Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
(abusers of themselves with mankind ... pagan acts)
* Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft (acts of superstitions), hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

To live in various superstitions is to attribute the power of God to man, thinking man can control things by different actions, such as: clinking glasses together, crossing himself, catching the bridal bouquet at weddings, wearing certain garments for "luck".
We turn from these pagan acts after we are born again.
By our words and actions we now testify that we attribute all power to God to do as HE wills.
