Man does not want God to rule over him but rather man desires to be "as God", taking the place of God, knowing good and evil.
This desire and temptation was evident from the beginning of time.
Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
(God did not say, "Neither shall ye touch it." Eve added that. When we add to the word of God, inwardly we know we added that and therefore it makes it easier to doubt all the word of God.)
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Matthew 18:3 Jesus says: Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
"as little children" ... A little child depends on his father and copies his father
But one of man's greatest desires is to grow up and to be self sufficient, elminating a need for God.

The faith movement of today teaches you to be "as god", deciding what is good for you and what is evil for you and finding a scripture to get for yourself that which you think to be good ... thus assuming you know what is good and becoming "as god".
This is antichrist.
