As children of God, we should expect to have success in all that we do in this present life so long as God has shown us to do that thing.
If you are a parent and dealing with your children, shouldn't you have God's wisdom? It is readily available to you through prayer.
James 1:5 ... If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If you can believe the above scripture and promise, and ask in faith, don't you also believe God will show you want to do?
In everything in this life the promise of receiving wisdom from God applies.
I used this all the time when I had a business, in the purchase of merchandise for my shop. Every item I bought sold. I didn't know anything at all about business, but I did know about God. I would just ask God to show me what to buy each time I was confronted with buying and I trusted God to do that for me, leading me.
If you work for a difficult boss, why wouldn't it work for you to act on wisdom from God?

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. He entered Egypt with the clothes on his back. Potiphar bought Joseph and because God gave Joseph wisdom, he was exalted to second in command in Potiphar's house.
Genesis 39 ... And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

If you belong to God ... seeking the will of God in the matter at hand ... knowing how to hear the spirit of God and follow God ... and you meditate day and night on that word brought to your mind by God ... how can you not succeed in all that you do?

The following instructions which God gave to Joshua fits everyone in the assignment given them by God when God has called the person.
Joshua 1
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee:
turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Have not I commanded thee? (Isn't this what God wants you to do?)
Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
