πŸ’₯ When you have to leave the church group you love because God shows you they are teaching doctrine opposite to Christ.


Many of us attend the church we attend because our friends and family go to that church group.  It is a strong special tie for us as well as spiritual tie and "fellowship" with like minded Christians.
 
But what if that church is teaching a doctrine opposite to the doctrine printed in the New Testament Bible?

As a newly born again Christian in 1975, my best friend came to me and said, "Joanie ... you have to go to church." 
 
"I do?"  I replied.

So I began going to the church she and her husband attended, a small church group in Dallas, named "Believer's Chapel."
 
The pastors were professors at Dallas Theological Seminary.
 
The church doctrine was similar to doctrines of Baptist and Church of Christ.
 
At the time I began attending, the head pastor was teaching a 3 day seminar entitled, "Tongues are of the devil." 
 
(I didn't care for the subject and was rather luke-warm about going but I did attend these sessions.)

During that same time, I became ill.  My friend, Donna, wanted me to make an appointment and have the elders at that church pray over me.
 
James 5:14-15  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
 
I called the church office and told them the problem and asked for an appointment with the elders to be prayed over.
 
The church secretary seemed horrified at my request.  But she told me she would tell the elders and get back with me.
 
I don't believe I ever heard from her again.
 
I got well.

One day, I was reading my Bible and saw a scripture that shocked me.
 
I Corinthians 14:37-39  If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.  

The church I was attending was teaching something opposite from that which I had just read in the Holy Bible!

There was no way I was going to go to any church that taught opposite from that taught in the Bible!  

I told Donna what I read and I wasn't going back to that church that taught opposite to Bible.

She wanted us to go to her house and read each translation of the Bible to see what they said about this and we found each translation said the same thing:  "forbid not to speak with tongues."

Donna said she wasn't going back to that church either.

I believed the Bible to be the Word from God to the church.  And the Bible ruled over the church, according to my understanding.

A few nights after this, I was asleep and all of a sudden I was transported into heaven where I was with God, and with Christ, and with the Holy Spirit.  (I saw no physical images.  It was a spiritual experiences.)  At that time, I was "merged" into the body of Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit witnessing.

Then I was really on fire for things of God and wanted to go to church and wanted to read Bible and learn about God and cared about nothing else, not even the business I owned in American Indian Arts. (I had 3 very competent women who worked for me so most days I could stay home and read the Bible and let them run the shop.)

Then it happened a second time.  Exactly the same way.  I was transported into heaven and merged into the body of Jesus, made one with the Word of God.

I began attending a neighborhood prayer group.

I was so impressed with these women.  They prayed for people all over the world.  They would read the daily newspaper and see stories of people who needed prayer and they would bring that story before our group and everyone would pray.  (I had never thought of doing that.)

One day we had a special meeting to pray.  There were only 5 women at that session and we gathered around a kitchen table.  One woman shared something she had see in the newspaper and told us we needed to pray over this.  So everyone bowed heads and closed eyes and then I heard a very soft sound coming from the women.  All of a sudden I realized these women were praying in tongues. I was terrified because at the previous church the pastor had taught us that tongues were of the devil. I wanted no part with devil.  I'd been having "satanic attacks" from devil. I certainly didn't want to add to my problems people praying in tongues after having been taught this was from devil.
 
I excused myself quickly from the prayer group and left.  One woman followed me outside and said, "Joan, don't let this trouble you."  "Of course not," I replied.  (But I was very troubled and didn't go back to the prayer group for awhile.)  I asked God to sort this things of tongues for me and show me the truth.  
 
I decided to read every example in the New Testament Bible concerning tongues.  After doing that, I put away the doctrine from the Believer's Chapel church judging it false and going by the many examples given in the Bible where the apostles and others spoke and prayed in tongues in the churches.  Then I returned to the prayer group after doing that.

I learned at that time to judge doctrine by what is written in the New Testament Bible as led by the Holy Spirit of God. God had taught me the Holy Spirit teaches us all things; reminds us of everything Jesus has said; guides us into all truth; and shows us things to comes.  (John 14:26 & John 16:13 & I Corinthians 2)

If something happened and I could find an example of that in the New Testament Bible, I felt God was showing me the validity that same thing could happen in today's church.  Concerning my being taken into heaven twice, I found this scripture showing that:  The apostle Paul said:  2 Cor. 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
 
So I felt my experience of being taken into heaven twice in the night was of God. Later I came to believe it was ordaining me into the 2 office ministries which have been given to me:  apostle & prophet

Ephesians 4:8;11-12  (the 5 ministry offices for the NT church)
 
8  Wherefore HE (Jesus) saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.  11  And HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

So after leaving Believer's Chapel, I attended a church named Beverly Hills Baptist that had about 3,000 members.  Then a few weeks later, I switched to a church outside of Dallas named "Word of Faith."  It was much smaller, about 200 at the time I started going to that church.  I also attended the single's class at that church and all special sessions, of which there were many.
 
I seemed to have a strong spiritual gift of faith. God often showed me word of knowledge and the teacher of the singles class allowed us to share spiritual gifts with the people in the class.

During the next 40+ I often heard men in charge speaking things not in the Bible.  I usually would go to the speaker and ask that speaker where it was in the Bible when I couldn't find the doctrine which he spoke in the New Testament.
 
I see the NT Bible as the rule book for the doctrines of Christ for the NT church today.
 
At the end times, there will be a falling away from scripture and antichrist will set up many doctrines opposite from those doctrines of Christ printed in the Holy Bible.
 
We must leave the church groups where we see this happen for the apostle Paul told us it would happen in the last days and it was antichrist coming into that church group.
 
2 Thessalonians 2  (Church group falling away from scripture)

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

In 1982, while reading the above scripture, God said to me:  "The falling away are not people leaving the churches but the falling away are churches leaving the scriptures and setting up doctrines of antichrist in the church."

I do not attend a church group where doctrines opposite to Bible are taught.

A few of the doctrines being cast away from churches today:

- Man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. (Mt. 5:32)
- If divorced woman remarries, she commits adultery. (Mt. 5:32; Mk. 10:11-12; 
I Cor. 7:39;  Acts 7:3-4)

- I Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

- Concerning homosexuals & lesbians:  unnatural acts ... Romans 1:26-28  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

- A time of fornication, the 2 become 1 flesh even if it is sex with a prostitute:
I Cor. 6:15-20  Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith HE, shall be one flesh.

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I Cor. 6:9-10  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
