Helped when furniture being moved

Pam Padgett ... member of the body of Christ and spiritual gift of helps

Yesterday, March 30, 2019, the furniture Joan wanted to bring from Lubbock and her sound equipment were brought by Tom in a rental truck. (Tom is the contractor who built Joan's house in Lubbock)

It was a busy day, but all the help needed was so well provided for us by God.

First of all, Tom got the truck loaded in Lubbock and drove it here.  Tom is very dependable and takes great care with what he does.  Still, without talking about it at the time, Joan and I both prayed about various aspects of Tom's trip.

Because of high winds, it took Tom about two hours longer to get here than expected, but he had no problems at all.

We knew that some things would need to be put in my unfinished basement, and I wanted to prepare a place for these things so they would be off the floor on pallets (the pallets were already in the basement).  Help in doing this was provided in an unexpected way.

Each Friday afternoon we have a woman from the home health care agency come do house cleaning.  She is here for 2 hours.  Earlier in the week we received a call saying that the woman who has been coming had accepted another full-time job, so a different woman, named Melina, would be coming.    Melina is 19 years old with lots of energy and is very strong.

She finished the cleaning in about 1-1/2 hours and was waiting for the sheets to dry, when she asked if there was anything else she could help with.  I told her I needed help with something other than cleaning, and she was very willing to help.  With her doing almost all the work, the basement was prepared for the furniture before the sheets were dry.

When Tom offered to drive the truck to bring the furniture here, he had said he would need someone here to help unload the truck.  At that time, we didn't know when he would be bringing the furniture so I hadn't yet arranged for someone to help unload the truck.  Interestingly, somehow during this time, my plan to get another man to help Tom was changed to get 2 men who were furniture movers.  (The plan was changed in me by God without my realizing it until later.)

I prayed about how to find furniture movers that would do a good job, and was reminded of a website call Next Door Gleneagle, in which people who live in this area can ask for, and give, recommendations for various services.  I looked and saw that there were recommendations for furniture movers.

Only one of the 3 places I called had men available on Saturday and could be here at 1pm.  (We thought Tom would probably be here around noon, so 1pm seemed a likely start time.)  I explained that this time might need to change, and the man I spoke with, Dewayne, said to just let him know if a change was needed.  When we realized Tom wouldn't be here until around 2, I called Dewayne.  He and Joe changed some of their own plans and came at 2:30.

These men turned out to be wonderful movers!  They were so careful with everything, had great attitudes, and were willing to take on anything ... even unpacking Joan's 150-pound amplifiers, moving my 150-pound amplifiers, putting Joan's amps where mine had been, and packing mine so they could be sent for repair.

Tom is 65 years old and has some physical problems.  Although he was very active in unloading the truck, Dwayne and Joe were so capable that they took care of most of the heavy pieces.  Tom told me later how glad he was to have had this help.

A few days before the furniture came, Joan was given an idea to put a decorative screen she had in Lubbock in a corner of her bedroom, and the "zebra" chair in that area as well.   So yesterday the movers setup the screen and chair in that corner.  It looks so nice.  Joan was shocked when she saw how the entire room looks and how much more space there is in the room, even though there is more furniture.

Here's a picture of a corner of the room ...

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1.  Great is Thy faithfulness,
O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning

  with Thee;
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been
  Thou forever wilt be.

Chorus:

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy WORD hath provided—

Great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!

2.  Summer and winter,
and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

3.  Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
