πŸ’₯ * Rebekah

Abraham's servant is about to go to the land of Abraham's father to find a wife for Isaac, the child of promise.

Genesis 24

7 (Abraham says)   The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; HE shall send HIS angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Has God ever spoken to you?  Review such and list what you can recall.  It will build your faith.

* August 5, 1975 ... God said:  "Joan, Joan ... You know those mistakes you've been making all these years?  Those weren't mistake.  Those were sins."  Changed my life completely!  I was given by God a new heart and a new spirit.  Born again with that.  Now all I wanted to do was read Bible.  Attend church.  Learn about God. And be with other Christians. And speak of the great things God has done for me and for others.  And that is same today.  These are the things that matter!

* 2019 ... I was looking at the seat covers on my old 1996 car.  I began thinking about getting new seat covers.  The Holy Spirit said:  "Or you could just buy a new car."  Felt like I was hit by a lightning bolt.  I'd never though of doing that.  But I could get new car.  I'd just sold the house in Texas and the money from the sale of the house was sitting there in the bank.  I had no debt of any kind.  I could buy a new car and pay cash for the car.  Dream given to me that night.  I bought a new car in the dream.  The next day I went to look at cars and bought a new car.  (God knows future.  If I was going to need that money in future I knew God wouldn't have told me this about a car.)  I like to have assurance from God on things like this.  I'm 87 now.)

2018 ... I fell in hallway of my house in Texas.  I knew I was badly injured, likely broken hip and very badly wrist bent backward.  When I tried to crawl to phone in next room the pain was so terrible I just stopped.  But I would likely die there because no one was due to come to my house for a week.  I lived alone at that time. As I thought on these things, God spoke to my mind by the Holy Spirit and said:  "You can do this."  Because of that word, I started inching my way down the tile hall way.  It took 4 1/2 hours to get to phone.  A Kindle tablet was charging, while lying on floor beside phone. Turned out I couldn't use the phone but if I could get to Tablet I might be able to send email to our church. I was almost unconscious but managed to send "garbeled email", "Help ... fell ... send ambulance."

Our church group is from former radio audience and people live all over the United States.

Pam Padgett, in Colorado, 450 miles away, sent immediately confirmation.  I heard the ambulance workers at door.  As they rolled me past the front door to take me to hospital, I heard a word from God.  "You'll never see this house again."  (From hospital, I put house up for- sale.)

There are many other examples where God has spoken to me.

If you had ever heard from God, write examples down and think on these.  It will really help build your faith in God helping you in time of need.  It will also give you faith that you belong to God.  We all need that in the time that is coming upon this earth.

2020 ... When I went to buy a new car, we were test driving an Acura MXD, and I heard a clear word from God.  "You should drive a Mercedes."

But I let the word slip and didn't tell Pam what I had heard and we bought the Acura.

Almost immediately we had trouble when riding in that car.  I've had 7 broken bones in my body and am partially crippled.  The Acura was a rough riding car.  I came to understand I needed a car with air suspension.  We drove that car for 3 1/2 years and every time we were out an met a car I would wonder that "that" car rode like.  Finally we'd had enough.  We decided to sell the Acura and buy a car that had a very good air suspension.  I think it was then that I remembered what God had said to me and told Pam.  We drove several brands of cars but finally got to Mercedes.  Some of the lower levels of Mercedes weren't much better than the Acura.  The salesman said, "You're going to have to drive an S-class."  He went to get the S-class.  As soon as I sat down, even before Pam started the motor, I said, "Now this is a car!"

(It was like driving on smooth glass.)

God knows what will work for us in our situation and God tells us!

The car was very expensive, listing at $125,000.  (I had $300,000 in bank from sale of house in Texas.  But most of us don't want to spend our money.)

God gave me 2 scriptures to encourage me.

Psalm 84:11  For the LORD God is a sun (Showing us what to do) and shield (Keeping us from doin that which would harm us.) : the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will HE withhold from them that walk uprightly.

I Timothy 6:17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

By this scripture, I felt God was showing me it would be all right to spend the money and I wouldn't need it in future.  To hold onto money would do me no good.  Faith is to turn loose when we believe God is leading us.  We will fall if we try to provide for yourself rather than having faith that God will provide for us.

We took the car for a test drive into the nearby Rocky Mountains driving over many curved roads.  As we started out, Pam said:  "I'd really have to love a car to pay this much for one."

I watched her behind the wheel.  (I can't drive.)  The way Pam was driving was like a race course driver.  I could tell she was having the time of her life driving that car.

On the way down, Pam said:  "I really love this car."

The dealer lowered the price to $117,000 ... and we sold the Acura for $30,000 ... So that caused the Mercedes to cost $87,000.

We've never had a moment of regret ... only joy and comfort and fun!  and knowing that God will not withhold from us and will bless us exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think ... Ephesians 3:20

It is just that we have to have faith and do that word that we hear from God by HIS Spirit.

After 3 1/2 years we finally did it!

(This is no big-deal with God but it is with us.)

God sends HIS people out with joy and gladness!  We are God's children and we show it!  Victory belongs to us. We follow what HE says.

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Genesis 24

10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

12 And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

(God will help us with our projects when we call on HIM.)

15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

(This woman has an heart even toward the need of the beasts, the camels.)

20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
***

21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
(Yet she said almost exactly the same words the servant asked God to have the "right" woman say so he could recognize this was the woman appointed by God to be HIS master's son's wife.)

22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

23 And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?

24 And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.  (Rebekah's relative.)

25 She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.

26 And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.

27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.

28 And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.

29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.

30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.

31 And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.

33 And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.

34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

36 And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.

37 And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell: 38 But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.

39 And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me.

40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send HIS angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:

41 Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.

42 And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:

43 Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;

44 And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.

45 And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.

46 And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also.

47 And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.

48 And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.

49 And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.

50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.

52 And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

53 And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

54 And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.

55 And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.

56 And he (Abraham's servant) said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.

57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.

58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.

60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

(The servants of God:  Deuteronomy 28:  1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all HIS commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God... All who follow God and serve God will be blessed by God and God will cause them to reign over men and will bless all the works of their hands... 8The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and HE shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto Himself, as HE hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in HIS ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The LORD shall open unto thee HIS good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

(Debt makes us "beneath" ... therefore we will not have debt.  It would cause us to be opposite to the will of God ... beneath and not above ...)

14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

When the world sees a man of God and does well by that man of God, God will bless him also Rebekah was wise to go with a man who demonstrated that he worshipped God.  (Notice several time during these events the servant fell and worshipped God.  That shows us to whom that servant belongs.)

Genesis 24

61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.

63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
(Showing proper respect for her master and Lord.)

65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.

67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

(Every thing in proper order.)

With Isaac & Rebekah God will create the 12 tribes of Israel, which carries on to the end of this present world... the children of the promise of God, the seed of Abraham from which even the Gentiles will come to trust in God through Jesus.

The beginning of all that matters on this earth.  The children of God, the inheritance of God, the church of the living Christ!

There is no other God.

Build your faith and understanding of God by spending time with the examples given in this writing.
