John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory (The glory of The Word), the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus said to the disciples:
Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? (Matthew 16:13)
Who is Jesus?
By the revelation of God, we know Jesus is THE WORD.

When God reveals to us The Word on the issue at hand, we have "Jesus" for Jesus is THE WORD.
It is not a one time receiving of The Word. It is a continual receiving of The Word as we deal with the issues of this present life.
The gates of hell will not prevail against that Word revealed to us by God on the matter at hand.

We, who belong to God, are kept by The Word (Jesus), we are delivered by The Word (Jesus), we are led by The Word (Jesus).
The Word (Jesus) is everything. There is none else.
Only by The Word do we come to God.
Jesus says: I (The Word) am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (The Word).
THE Word that is revealed to us by God by HIS Spirit is the way, the truth, the life.

You can try to go to God by the Bible without success.
You can try to do the letter of the law in the Bible without success.
It is only when God reveals Jesus (The Word) by HIS Spirit that we have the way.

Matthew 16:13-18 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, HE asked His disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
HE saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock (The WORD revealed by God) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The only thing we can build upon is THAT WORD revealed to us by God.
All else will fall.
We have to wait on the Spirit.
It is that Word brought to our mind by THE Spirit of God that has what we need for the specific moment in time.
By HIS Spirit God brings to our mind a scripture, or a concept … this is THE WORD the gates of hell will not prevail against in the problem at hand.
For God by HIS Spirit does the following for us, the believer.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
- HE teaches us all things (secular & spiritual)
- HE reminds us of all Jesus has said
- HE guides us into all truth
- HE shows us things to come
