God leads us forth with joy!
(Have you ever tried to make yourself go shopping when you really didn't want to go out? If so, you know the opposite to "joy".)
Isaiah 40:31 they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Man's way is often hard, difficult. and distressful because he yokes himself to thinking of other humans and tries to grit his teeth and do the difficult things.
(Even our own flesh takes pride in doing difficult things!)
Joy is a primary way God leads HIS people.
Psalm 105:42 And HE brought forth HIS people with joy, and HIS chosen with gladness:

Dread is a sign you have yoked yourself to plans that are not of God. Do not hesitate to free yourself when you have done this.
Dread:
- anticipate with apprehension or fear
- have forebodings about
- anxiety, worry, concern
Proverbs 6:2-3 (If) Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself,
Cancel ... back off ... pray ... allow yourself to be reestablished by God in the way to go.

If we ask God for HIS wisdom in the matter at hand, we have a promise in the Bible, that God will give us HIS wisdom.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
The world often teaches the person to stick with it, regardless of how hard it is or dreadful.
I have not found that to be God's way.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says: Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For MY yoke is easy, and MY burden is light.

If we yoke ourselves to the thinking of other men and to our own prideful flesh, we will have a hard yoke, especially as we strive for reputations among other men.
If we give this up and turn to God and desire to do only HIS will, yoking ourselves to God and choosing to live in peace, HE will show us another way and we will come to see the truth of the scriptures.
God's yoke is easy and HIS burden is light.
Live by this!
