πŸ’₯ Answers to prayer

Over the past 3-4 years, near-by neighbors have been friendly and offered to help if I needed anything. One of the neighbors even cleared snow for me. But over the past couple months, 3 neighbor's have moved away and another is planning to move.

I found myself feeling a little isolated. Also, some fearful thoughts came such as "What if I need help with something?"   I turned to God with these things and was very quickly reminded of:

But my God shall supply all your need according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

This calmed me right away. I simply prayed that any new neighbors would be such that I can live in peace.

Until a few days ago, we have had an unusually warm and dry winter, with just one snow event and it was only a few inches deep. I easily shoveled this, which I enjoy doing. But this week a snow storm moved in and we got about 7-8" of snow. I didn't feel it was wise for me to try to shovel that much snow.

So I prayed and was reminded of the NextDoor app. There I saw a post from an 18-year old young man who lives in this area and would shovel snow. I contacted him, and he and a friend came a few hours later and began shoveling. I thought it would probably take them about 30 minutes to finish.

When nearly an hour passed and they had not finished, I looked out the window and noticed that there was obviously a thick layer of ice that had been exposed when the snow was removed ... and they were working to get the ice broken up and removed!

I realized how dangerous it would have been for me to have tried to clear the snow myself, especially with the ice. (One of my neighbors, who is finishing moving this weekend, told me he wasn't aware of the ice under the snow and fell and slid completely down his driveway. He was not injured, but is fairly young, about 35 years old.  At 70 years old, the outcome for me could easily have been very serious.)

Certainly God provided exactly the help I needed and I am so grateful to HIM for this!

I, too, am concerned with slipping on icy surfaces and God answered some prayers for me recently.

I was taking care of a woman’s cats for 10 days while she was away. Some were indoor and some outdoor, where I had to walk to an old garage to put food out for them. It wasn’t real far from the house, but partially on cement. For the first few days the weather was very nice, no snow. Then one night it rained and the next day temperatures would be below freezing. I was concerned there would be icy places where I had to walk so I prayed, asking God to please let it not be slippery. Everything was fine the next day, no icy places at all.

After this it was very cold and it snowed some. I was concerned about places I had to walk plus the condition of the roads. Her house is out in the country, where I didn’t know if the roads would get plowed. I prayed about these things. Everything was fine, roads not too snowy or icy.

Then one day before my last day there, as I was walking from my car to the house, I dropped her house key in the snow. I kept brushing away snow around the area but couldn’t see the key. I thought if it had fallen onto the snow that wasn’t trodden down, that I’d see an indentation in the snow. But I didn’t see anything. I kept praying for help to find it. I walked to the porch, put my purse down, and walked back to the area where I’d dropped the key. This time I saw a very tiny hole. It didn’t seem big enough for the key to have made, but I checked it out and there was the key!

I was so relieved and grateful for these answers to prayer.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
