Scriptures:

1 John 2:15-16   Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

John 12:25-26  Jesus says ...  He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve ME, let him follow ME; and where I am, there shall also MY servant be: if any man serve ME, him will MY Father honour.

Galatians 5:1  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Stand fast - firmly fixed; not easily moved

Hebrews 2:1  Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

(Comments from Pam Padgett:  While listening to one of the Building Your House On The Word of God podcasts today, I was thinking of how, although I have heard these things before, I feel grateful to hear them again and consider these things in my life once more.  For this helps me to not let these things slip and leads in a way of safety.
While thinking about these things, I was reminded of what we're told in Hebrews 2:1 and Philippians 3:1.)
