Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
Are there prophets today in the NT church?
What do we read in the New Testament?
Ephesians 4 After Jesus arose: after the crucifixion and resurrection ...
8 Wherefore HE saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
11-13 And HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Several years ago, I went to coffee with two Baptist women.
One woman, Alice, began talking about the new church building the pastor was building. Then Alice told how one woman in their church group was so against the new building project.
Alice said to me: "What do you think is wrong with this woman."
I replied: "Maybe she's a prophet."
I believe a great many prophets are simple housewives, perhaps a little negative while other people are jumping up and down. Prophets often see through God's eyes while people see through their own flesh and desires of themselves.
God has different ways of bringing forth the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I Corinthians 12:4-6 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
In 1980, I attended a church group where there was a woman named Ava. She was identified as a prophet. She told me when things were wrong in the church group, she began to vomit and had to run out of the room or auditorium.
A church invited Ava to speak at the dedication of something at their group. Ava said pastor and one of the elders had planned to go into business together. Ava began to get sick at her stomach and slipped out the back of the building while all the congregation were rejoicing while gathered around pastor and elder and laying hands on pastor and elder over this future business venture, "blessing them."
A month or so later, the pastor and elder were suing each other because of a problem in the business.

One way God works with me is when something is going on with an individual, usually negative or a problem, that person will be called to my mind over and over through the day and night until I call and take action in the matter.

When we think of prophets, we often think of Elijah, a great prophet of God who performed many miracles.
John the Baptist performed no miracles.

The prophets in both the OT and NT often traveled in packs.
Acts 11:27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
Prophets understand other prophets.
There is a woman in our little church group whom I believe to be a prophet. Often I like to hear what she has to say about happenings. I usually know what she is going to say before she says it because God has put the same thing into my heart and what she says is confirmation to me of that which I have heard from God.
It makes sense that prophets would enjoy traveling with other prophets.

As I would speak to her about her being a NT prophet, she would often say, "God has never told me that."
God has never told me I am a prophet.
But if the tree produces certain fruit, then you know the identity of that tree.
It is very simple.
If a fire burns in a man and he is always thinking about going to the unsaved to preach the gospel, what do we call this man?
Evangelist.
Prophets know things they have no way to know except for God putting the information into their hearts ... and it comes to pass over and over.
Here is a letter I wrote yesterday to our church group.

From the time I got to know Barbara, I thought her to be a prophet.
We went back and forth on this.
That last email we published from her that tells her testimony of the house in Houston and how God put so strongly in her heart to sell as quickly as possible, was the "apple" on the tree saying to me "prophet ... prophet ... prophet."
Ye shall know them by their fruits.
I called Barbara today and told her and came back to position that she is a prophet ... not a big deal really. Lots of prophets. I feel they are scattered all over.
She said God never told her she is prophet. She has said that to me many times.
I finally woke up ... God never told me either that I am prophet.
But if you keep doing prophet things, you are likely prophet.

I never told anyone at the church I attended that I was a prophet. My own pastor at that time said to the congregation, "Joan is not a teacher ... She is a prophet."
The man who taught our Sunday school class almost jumped out of his seat when he heard pastor say this.
Our teacher said: "That's it!"
He told me he almost said I was a teacher but there was a check in his spirit.
It was a prophet!

I am not like Elijah, I've never done healing miracles ... but neither did John the Baptist
I am not like Ezekiel, who had to lie on side every day to get their attention ...
But the main thing that identifies a prophet to me is they see ... they often have information planted in them ... they just know something ... often without any way to know that.

Some prophets met Elisha. (II Kings 2:3-5)
And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

This is as much prophet fruit as anything I've ever seen before: Barbara writing about the Texas house and the coming disaster in housing finance...
Barbara said:
In April 2007, my husband and I put our house in Texas up for sale because he was retiring and we were going to move to Virginia.
From the time we put it on the market and probably even before, God had put in my heart that we needed to sell quickly because something was coming in the economy that was going to be very bad.

God was showing Barbara the coming housing financial troubles of 2008 where it became difficult in USA to sell houses.

I know I like to see what she is thinking about various things ...
It's not that we do anything ... It's just there...
A few years ago Pam Padgett was engaged.
I had made a trip to Colorado a few weeks before she was scheduled to be married. She wanted me to meet Chuck. I didn't want to meet Chuck. I recall telling Pam to forget about me.
Barbara was also negative about this wedding.
Neither of us had any reason to feel this way but we both did.
Pam postponed the wedding 4 days before it was scheduled.
(Pam said she couldn't go through with this wedding because Barbara and I were negative about it ... although I don't remember saying such. Pam knew I was a prophet and she had great respect for Barbara.)
Shortly after this, Chuck told Pam his son who was in the Army at the time, stationed in Germany, was marrying a divorced woman.
Pam told Chuck if the son married this divorced woman, it would be adultery. Matthew 5:32
After that, Chuck didn't call to talk with Pam as he had done before.
Pam called Chuck and found he no longer wanted to marry her because of what she told him about adultery.
Today Pam is so grateful she didn't marry Chuck. Although Chuck said he was a Christian, Pam knew he could not really be a Christian when he didn't allow scripture to rule over his life.
She postponed the marriage because of Barbara and myself!
That is the work prophets do.
It's not that we do anything ... It's just there...
