Daniel: Faith Building Moments From The Old Testament

There are many wonderful faith building examples from the Old Testament.

Daniel 1

1-5   In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

One of these chosen was Daniel.

v. 8    But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

v. 10   And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

Daniel proposed a test.

vv.12-16    Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

vv.17-20    As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

When we trust God for our wisdom, we will never fall short.

Some people today defile themselves with food from apostate churches who have changed portions of the word of God.  

Others refuse the twisting of scripture and leave these apostate churches.

The example of Daniel is just one example showing we, who put our trust in God, will never fall short.

Those who trust in their churches and fall away from the doctrines of the Bible, will suffer a very severe penalty.  They will even be deluded by God and be damned because they fell away from scripture and failed to have a love of the truth that they would be saved.

II Thessalonians 2:10-12    And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Many church goers think they delight in God while they are actually delighting in the various pre-planned performances ... music, strength of the feeling of people even when those people fall away from scripture and set up other beliefs in the church ... emotional feelings of man.

But for those who truly love the scripture, they will not tolerate the removal of the scriptures such as the following.

Matthew 5:32    But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

I Corinthians 7:10-11    And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

Daniel refused to defile himself with the king's meat.

We, who love the Word of God, will not defile ourselves with churches who change from the doctrines of Christ set forth in the Holy Bible. 

And we do consider the instructions of Bible to be Holy.

II Timothy 6:16-17   All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

God will destroy the apostate churches and reward those of us who refuse to eat their man made portions of doctrines of men.

I once told a Baptist church deacon that I would not attend a church where the Word of God was changed from the Bible.

He said to me, "But you have to be fed too."

Not with polluted meat ... I thought.

And I know the following truth which was spoke by the apostle John.

I John 2:26-28    These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

And now, little children, abide in HIM; that, when HE shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

In 1979, God gave me a very shocking dream showing me poison doctrine in the churches which fall away from scripture.

In this dream, destruction was everywhere.

A man was speaking to a group of people.  I went into the room and began to listen.

A second man rushed into the room and said:  "Stop ... wait ... can't you see?  It's already begun."

The first man resumed speaking to the people.

I looked out the window to see what had "already begun."

There was a tall pole with a yellow civil defense type warning speaker on top.  Out of the speaker I saw a gas coming toward us.  I knew this gas was poisonous and it was going to kill the people.  It was coming directly toward us!

The shocking thing was this:  The speaker that was put there to warn us was the instrument that was being used to distribute the gas that would kill us.

I looked at the man sitting next to me.  Though he had a big smile on his face and was looking directly toward the man who was speaking and he seemed attentive, he was a corpse.  He was already dead.

I looked around the room and saw the other people who were listening were also dead.

And as I sat there among them, I began to fall asleep.  I knew the gas was killing me too.

Later God opened my eyes to see this was happening in the churches which had turned away from portions of scripture and had become apostate.

The Lord's supper is the pure word of God.

If man has changed the word, it is not the Lord's supper but it is rancid meat.

I'm not eating it.
