Psalm 122 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the Lord.

2 Our feet shall stand
within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is builded
as a city that is compact together:
4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord,
unto the testimony of Israel,
to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

5 For there are set thrones of judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
they shall prosper that love thee.

7 Peace be within thy walls,
and prosperity within thy palaces.

8 For my brethren and companions 'sakes,
I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God
I will seek thy good.

Comments by Joan Boney ...

This Psalm is Old Testament where they went to a specific place to worship and to sacrifice to God.

We are New Testament.  We do not go to a city to worship God.  We do not go to a place to worship God.  The Spirit of God is in us and now we worship God in Spirit and in truth where ever we are at the time.

I Cor. 6 ... 15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price:therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Jn. 4 ... 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ:when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

The current Jerusalem will never be godly.

We look for the "new" Jerusalem not the current Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Hebrews 11 ...  13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly:wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God:for he hath prepared for them a city.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
they shall prosper that love thee.

7 Peace be within thy walls,
and prosperity within thy palaces.

This is not speaking of the current Jerusalem.  Prayers are for the Church.  The nation of Jerusalem as we now know it lives by the Old Testament and doesn't recognize Jesus Christ as the promised savior.  They still look for the first coming of Jesus.  We have already seen the first coming of the Messiah and that is the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh more than 2000 years ago.

Do you really believe the current nation of Israel on this present earth will have peace?  Even if they were not surrounded by the Arab nations, they would not have peace because the Jews and all other people are fleshly and will not have peace.  Only those who belong to Jesus Christ and follow HIM, the Word, in the issues of this life can live in peace and we have to work to do such.

Don't allow the nonsense spoken by fleshly religious people to mislead you.
