Recently a commercial came on tv about an over the counter medication that people should take (the commercial claimed) in order to keep their minds from weakening, keeping them sharp and alert, especially as they grow older. I could see how this could frighten people into feeling they needed this drug in order to keep their minds in good condition, as they aged.
As I was listening to this, I was reminded that God is the ONE WHO gives us a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Sound - free from flaw, defect, or decay; free from that which is deceptive, false; showing good judgment or sense.
Who wouldn't want this?
We know, as Christians, that a sound mind comes from obedience to and faith in God, doing those things God has shown us to do.
Thinking about this reminds me of a scripture that always makes me so happy whenever I read it ...
Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: HE will be our guide even unto death.
