Jesus paid for our sins with HIS own life to bring us to God.
After we are born again, doing the scriptures frees us from the sins of this world so we can serve God and go in HIS way rather than continuing in the way of our flesh and devils.
Jesus says:
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The way of life set forth for us in Bible frees us from sins.
The world wants freedom to sin. Therefore the world does not want to hear the way of life told us by the scripture.
But the people of God want to be free of sin therefore they delight in the scriptures when we speak of them, for they know the scriptures are the way of life and freedom from sin and freedom from death.
For the wages of sin is death.
But the gift of God through HIS word is eternal life.
As we do the Word of God we free ourselves from sin of this world.
