II John vv. 1-4
The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

The children of God walk in truth and live in truth, speaking truth.
The children of the devil walk in lies.
To those walking in lies, Jesus says:
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
If you tell lies or if you deceive yourself by twisting the truth, you show your father to be the devil and not God. If you substitute truth and speak hypocrisy, you show your father to be the devil and not God.
If so, do you even recognize what is truth?
I John 1:6-7
If we say that we have fellowship with HIM, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as HE is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we have the Holy Spirit in us, the Spirit of Truth, and we start to fabricate a story, that Spirit of Truth will stop us.
If we twist the story and continue in the lie, do we really have the Spirit of Truth?
The children of God will not walk in lies. When we start to twist the truth, we will be stopped by that Spirit of God and we will have an opportunity to speak truth and correct ourselves.
Choose truth... seek truth ... walk in truth.
