I Cor 11:23 For
I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That
the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24
And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is
my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also He (Jesus)
took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament
in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come. (The "cup" is the New Testament. Jesus speaks of eating and drinking "The New Testament")
Judging
ourselves by this cup (the New Testament)...making corrections in our
individual lives so that we are doing (living) the commandments in the
NT...when I read this, I think about how we show the Lord's death over
and over in our flesh, as we examine ourselves and put to death the
desires of our flesh and choose to go in the ways of life.
Because of His sacrifice for us, we have the power to do this through the Holy Spirit.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (put to death) the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
