Psalm 99 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble:
he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

2 The Lord is great in Zion;
and he is high above all the people.

3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name;
for it is holy.

4 The king's strength also loveth judgment;
thou dost establish equity,
thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5 Exalt ye the Lord our God,
and worship at his footstool;
for he is holy.

6 Moses and Aaron among his priests,
and Samuel among them that call upon his name;
they called upon the Lord, and HE answered them.

7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar:
they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.
8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God:
thou wast a God that forgavest them,
though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

9 Exalt the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy hill;
for the Lord our God is holy.

 The Lord reigneth

No matter what it looks like, God is in charge.

Proof:  Don't we see the sun in the day?  Don't we see the moon and stars at night?  Don't they continue in their assigned places?  Isn't God in charge?

God is also in charge of the people though they do not realize it.

Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

The children of Israel in Egypt cried to God in their affliction.  And even their affliction was of God for they were going to be made so uncomfortable that they would move when the appointed time came.

God had a way of deliverance and that deliverance was going to be an instrument whereby HIS power would be seen in the sight of all.

God hardened Pharaoh's heart when Moses went to appeal for the children of Israel so Pharaoh would not let them go.  This was an instrument to allow God to do miracles in front of all... rivers turned to blood, flies over all the land, frogs everywhere, darkness, and finally the death of the first born in Egypt and the passing over of death in the houses of the children of Israel because of the blood they put on the top and sides of the doors of their houses by faith and by believing that God told them to do this, which is faith.  The hardening of Pharaoh's heart even after letting the children of Israel leave, he pursued them into the wilderness that he might be destroyed in the Red Sea.

Exodus 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

Exodus 14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

Wasn't God in control?

And isn't God in control today, even in your households?

And if we get to the end our of rope, can't we plead for deliverance just as the children of Israel pleaded ... and won't God deliver us?

Ex. 2 ...  and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.

24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

By all these experiences, we can know that God reigns even now.  And God hears us when we cry out to HIM.  And God delivers us, making a way of escape for us.  We cry out and learn to wait until God shows us HIS way in the issue at hand.

 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God,

Raise God to higher position.  We do this each time we pray to HIM for by praying we acknowledge that we are lower than God and HE is higher and we turn to HIM as "higher" and we put our trust in HIM and not in ourselves.

HE answered them.

We don't know how HE can reach us.  We don't know what HE will have us do.  But our experience with God shows that HE can reach us and will reach us.  He will answer us when we turn to HIM.

We humble ourselves by praying.

We acknowledge GOD each time we pray for that shows we don't know what to do.  We lower ourselves and exalt HIM.

 8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God:

God answered them.  God will answer us.
