Looking closely at Philippians 4:8

From John & Linda Rodgers ... Members of body of Christ

Phil. 4:8 ...  8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, John 1:9, Ephesians 4:24-25, Romans 10:17, Psalm 138:8

Jn. 1... 9 That (JESUS/THE WORD) was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Eph. 4 ... 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:for we are members one of another.

Psalm 138 ... 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

whatsoever things are honest, Luke 8:15, Acts 6:3, Romans 12:17,

Lk. 8 ... 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Acts 6 ... 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Romans 12 ... 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

whatsoever things are just, Matthew 1:19, Mark 6:20, Acts 10:22

Mt. 1:  19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

Mk. 6   20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

Acts 10    22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

whatsoever things are pure, 1 Timothy 1:5, James 3:17

I Tim. 1 ...  5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

James 3   17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

whatsoever things are lovely, Ezekiel 33:32, 2 Samuel 1:23

Eze. 33 ... 32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument:for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

II Sam. 1   23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles,
they were stronger than lions.

whatsoever things are of good report; Acts 10:22, 3 John 1:12

Acts 10   22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

III Jn. v.  12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself:yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

if there be any virtue, Luke 6:19, 2 Peter 1:1-10

Lk. 6   19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him:for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

II Peter 1   2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure:for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

and if there be any praise, Deuteronomy 26:19, Hebrews 13:15, 1 Corinthians 4:5

Deut. 26   19 And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken.

Heb. 13    15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

I Cor. 4    5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts:and then shall every man have praise of God.

think on these things.

 Scriptures regarding Phil 4:8

True 1Cor10:13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Honest  Isaiah 40: 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Just James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Pure Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven time

Lovely Romans 8: 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?.36As it is written,  For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Good report 1John 4:4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Virtue Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Praise Hebrews 13: 5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
