Our lives are different now that we are born again. People around us might be evil, saying and doing evil things. Unlike the people of this world, we do not choose to return fleshly evil, lashing out in evil at their evil.
Often in movies and in real life, a man will be unfaithful to his wife and the wife decides to repay her husband by being unfaithful to him. But the godly woman, the woman who belongs to God, will not deal with evil this way. She will turn to God and depend on God to help her and depend on God to heal her heart. She will also depend on God to show her how HE wants her to deal with the matter.
People are often unfair with us and some do evil against us and cheat us in earthly dealings. Do we try to get even with what they did to us? This is not what we do when we belong to God. When we belong to God we talk to God about the matter and allow HIM to deal with us.
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
This present earth will never be righteousness. We cannot make the people of this world righteous. It should not shock us when people are unfair with us. But we should discuss the matter with God and be restored from them by God, handling the matter as God shows us.
The one consistent thing is for us to turn to God and lay the issue out before God, trusting Him to help us and trusting Him to show us what to do.
Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Jesus said HIS kingdom is not of this world ... Jn. 18 ... Neither is our kingdom of this world.
We wait for that new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. II Peter 3
We can't make this world better. Paul said, Evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived. II Tim. 3 Jesus said before the end, before HIS return, Iniquity will abound and it will get so bad if the days are not shortened not even the elect will be saved but for the elect's sake the days will be shortened. Mt. 24
Take your temptations to God in prayer for HIS help to endure.
You aren't going to make things better by fighting your neighbor.
As much as it is within your own power, live in peace with your neighbor. Usually we will have to pull inside our own houses and live in peace without our own houses.
Focus on this truth: This is not my kingdom! All this we see with our natural eye is only temporary. And our life is a vapor which is here briefly and then passes away.
