Seek the will of God through prayer for your life in all issues pertaining to this life.

Philippians 4:6-7

Believe the Word given to you by God.  Believe the scriptures.  Believe the dreams.  Resist destructive thoughts through prayer and standing on that Word given you by God.

(It humbles us to pray for we show we do not trust in our own flesh.)

Choose the Word of God over everything and everyone and go forward and live in the Word.

Joshua 24

Jesus, The Lord, is the Word.

Go in the way of the Word every day and at all times.

Jesus says:

Revelation 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

We keep our flesh under the control of the Spirit.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

This is a recent report from Barbara Preston a member of the body of Christ and it gives an example of keeping your own flesh under control of the Spirit of God.

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings:” Phil 2:14

In other words, do everything without complaining and without strife and quarreling.

A while back this scripture stood out to me and I have been paying extra attention to it … thinking about what it is telling me, asking God to help me with this, and putting it into practice in my personal life when the need is there to do this.

I see this so much with my husband because I mostly talk to and with him. But now, when something is said to me that causes a sudden spark of anger to rise up inside me, this scripture will rise up on the heels of the fleshly anger and I find myself being able to overcome my flesh by obeying this scripture.

Earlier today I said something to my husband and he answered me in an irritated way. I didn’t say anything to him (because of this scripture) even though my flesh wanted to respond in kind.

Then I was reminded that, at the time this happened, he was trying to do something on his laptop and it wasn’t going well so he was annoyed and responded the way he did.

So I then prayed that God would help him and it helped me so much to do this. Joan Boney sent an exhortation the other day about how we, as Christians, don’t have to respond in a fleshly way to someone who may say something to us in an unexpected way because they are upset about something.

And most of all, I am so grateful to belong to God, to believe His Word and to have His Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

At this current time, what is the "Word" you have been given by God to live by?

As I thought on this a few days ago, I realized the Word of this time in my life is "Peace"

With all the turmoil and strife in the world, we as Christians are told to be found by Jesus in peace, without spot and blameless.

2 Peter 3

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

(One day when I was reading this scripture, God said to me, "You'll never make this present world righteous, no matter what you do.")

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Jesus says:

Luke 21

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting (over indulgence), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

By prayer we put our trust in God.

By prayer we connect to God in the issues of this life.

Prayer causes us to be worth to escape.

And be thankful ...

πŸ’₯  I thank God for my salvation, that I belong to HIM, and that I have HIS heart and Spirit in me to live by HIS will and to be able to know HIS will by HIS Spirit who lives in me.

πŸ’₯  I thank God for the place HE has placed me at this point in time, living in the home of another person of faith who is truly a believer in God.

πŸ’₯  I thank God for HIS provision, that there is no need as HIS word assures me.  Philippians 4:19  My God will supply all my need. If I need wisdom, God gives me wisdom.  If I need money, God gives me money.  Whatever the need, I am assured God will work it out and provide for me as long as HE leaves me on this earth.

πŸ’₯  I thank God for the animals ... cats and dogs.

πŸ’₯  I thank God for the house and the place we live.

πŸ’₯  I thank God for the heavens and earth which HE created for us and for the new heaven and new earth which HE showed the apostle John, where we will be taken after HE destroys this present heaven and earth.  Revelation 21:1-5  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

πŸ’₯ And I thank God that I am able to exhort the church today in the Word of God to help strengthen them and prepare them for the end time before Jesus returns to gather His church.

Earlier this week I met with the radiation oncologist who is overseeing the radiation therapy I am receiving for cancer.  

As this doctor got to the door to leave the room she unexpectedly stopped and turned to me and said "I want you to know that I check the radiation scans that are done with each treatment and you are always lined up just right."

The following morning I remembered that most days as I go to get a radiation treatment I find myself praying for God to give wisdom to the people setting everything up for the radiation machine and that nothing be done wrong that might cause damage to me in healthy parts of my body.  

I realized that the information given by the doctor showed that God has answered my prayer and I rejoiced and am very thankful to God for not only answering this prayer but for giving this confirmation.

The apostle Paul says:

I Corinthians 7:12-16  But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

(The believer dwells as a believer and if that unbelieving mate is content to dwell with the believer then let it be so.)

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

πŸ’₯ Jesus says: "I am the way, the truth, and the life."


John 14:6

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by ME.

(No man comes to God by Buddha or Mohammed or any other name.  Only by Jesus, the Word, the Holy Bible, do we come to the God who created the heaven and earth.)

Jesus, The Word, is the way to go in this life.  

So we are very careful to do those scriptures brought to our attention.  As we read the Bible we must be sensitive to any verse called to our attention.  That is a special message to us from God. 

One of the early verses I did in 1975 after I was born again was the following:

πŸ’₯  Romans 13:8  Owe no man any thing, 

I felt strongly I was to get out of debt and stay out of debt.  

I began immediately to pray for wisdom in how to get out of debt.  

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him

Shortly after that, I was on a buying trip for the small business which I owned at that time (American Indian Arts).  

I always prayed for God to show me what to buy before I got to the reservations.  

I was in a store in Santa Fe where I had purchased some things in past, when I noticed an old Navajo rug.  (We did not sell rugs at my shop but I couldn't walk away from "this" rug.)  It was $500.  I bought it.

(God often led me by strong interest in items.)

I returned to Dallas where I lived and the next day a man came to buy jewelry, but he noticed this rug which was rolled up next to the wall.  He asked me what that was.  I said, "It's an old Navajo rug." 

(I had the rug appraised before taking it back to Dallas and the appraiser said it was really a fine example of Navajo rugs and would go up in value through the years.  She said, "You need to price that rug where it will not sell.  It is worth $1500 now but will rise in price significantly from that.")

I rolled the rug out and the man looked at it and said, "How much?"  I replied, " $5,000."  He said, "I'll take it."  

I was horrified.

I always protected my customers and never overcharged for anything!

I tried to talk him out of buying the rug. But when I couldn't persuade him otherwise, I said:  "I will not cash your check for a week.  In that time if you decide you do not want the rug, bring it back, and I will give you your check back."

I never heard from that man again so after a week, I deposited his check and I wrote out a check for $6,000 and paid all my debt.

Through the next 45 years, I was never in debt again.  If I couldn't pay for something, I didn't buy it.  And I lived strictly by the cash I had at the time if I wanted something.  I didn't even buy my first house until I had the money to pay for it.  I know that doesn't seem wise to most people but I did feel very strongly that was how God wanted me to live so that is how I lived.  "Owe no man any thing."  And I was greatly blessed through the years, living in much peace, as I continued to do this scripture.

I learned to live by the Spirit, The Holy Spirit.

John 14:26  Jesus said:  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

When the Holy Spirit called a scripture to my attention, I focused on that verse and did that instruction over and over, sometimes even for many years unto this present time.

John 8:31-32  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on HIM, If ye continue in MY word, then are ye MY disciples indeed;  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

And if God speaks to us directly by giving us information, by bringing ideas to our mind, we do that, when we are persuaded it is God speaking to us.

John 10:10  Jesus says:  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I'm absolutely certain that God leads me by HIS Word in the way to go that is best for me!

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto HIM that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

"The power that worketh is us" is the Holy Spirit of God WHO searches the heart of God to show us the will of God for us.  When we go that way, according to the Word, we go in the way of God and in the right way, the best way!

I Corinthians 2:9-13  (That which the Holy Spirit does for us.)

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love HIM.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by HIS Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

(I've had many Words brought to my mind by God to show me what to do.)

In 2018, I fell at my house in Texas.  

I was in the hallway about 6 feet from the nearest phone.  I knew I was badly injured.  My left hip and left wrist were badly broken.  I managed to turn onto my right side as I was lying on the tile floor.  I tried to crawl to the area where the phone was located but the pain was so terrible I would almost pass out each time I moved.  But if I couldn't get to the phone for help I also knew I might die there because no one was due to come to my house (where I lived alone) until the following Monday.  

As I considered what to do, I had a word from God come to my mind by the Holy Spirit saying:  "You can do this."  

Because of that word, I began inching my way toward the phone.  It took 4 1/2 hours to get to the phone, but that word gave me the strength I needed to do this thing.

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ (The Word) which strengtheneth me.

As the ambulance workers rolled me past the front door of my house to take me to the hospital, I heard another Word from the Holy Spirit of God.  "You'll never see this house again."

From the hospital I put the house in Texas up for sale.

One of our church members said:  "I don't see how you can do this."

I replied:  "But I've heard from God that I will never see this house again."

After that, God moved me to Colorado to live in the home of another believer and she helped me.  It was a much better life than I had in Texas when I lived alone!

Isaiah 45:2  (God says:) 
 
I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

James 3 tells us how we can recognize the ideas that are from God and those ideas that are not from God.

James 3

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Ideas that come into our mind can come from God or from our own desire or devils.

(So we prayerfully examine thoughts to see whether they are from God.)

If an idea is terribly difficult to do, I know I don't have God's plan.

Matthew 11:30   God's yoke is easy and HIS burden is light.

If there is any hypocrisy or trickery, I know I don't have God's plan.

If the plan is overly expensive or causes me to go in debt, I do not believe I have God's plan.

So I pray for wisdom and reconsider.  

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

πŸ’₯ Keeping our flesh under control

I am currently going through chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer.  

One of the chemotherapy medicines is given slowly over 5 days.  Fortunately, rather than needing to go to a medical facility for 5 days, portable pumps are available so I can go about my usual activities at home as long as I keep the pump attached to me. 

However, the pumps are somewhat heavy (2-3 pounds) and also inconvenient to manage at times. (You wear the pump day and night like a belly bag or can carry it like a purse but it must be plugged into your body continually to dispense the medicine.)  It's so nice to get the pump removed as soon as possible after the medicine is dispensed in the specified days.  
 
My last chemotherapy treatment was on Monday of this week.  This should allow me to get the pump taken off on Saturday.  The location that can remove the pump is open only until noon on Saturdays, so I was careful to set my chemotherapy appointment for early in the morning on Monday to be finished by Saturday morning.  
 
However, when I called to set the appointment to have the pump removed on Saturday at a time after it finished dispensing the medicine, I was told that they didn't have staffing to do this and that I would need to come in on Sunday.  Although I tried to explain the situation, I was told I would have to keep the pump attached to my body an extra day and have it removed on Sunday.  So the appointment was set for Sunday.

I felt my flesh starting to rise up, wanting to insist they take care of this on Saturday.  All kinds of ideas starting coming to mind ... "Perhaps I could talk with a supervisor there and insist they work it out for this to be done on Saturday."  or  "Perhaps I could call my oncologist's office and see if they would force this facility to remove the pump on Saturday."

But then I recognized that this was my flesh rising up, striving to get my own way.  Strife is a work of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19-21   Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

So, instead of striving with anyone, I turned to God and asked HIM to work this out in the best way for me.  

I left the appointment set for Sunday and did no more to try to get it changed to Saturday. 

This past Monday when I went to get the pump put on, the nurse said "You'll be getting this off on Saturday, right?"  I explained that it would be Sunday because I had been told they didn't have staffing to do it on Saturday.  

The nurse said this didn't sound right, that they should be able to take it off on Saturday, and that she would like to look into it.  I told her this was fine with me.  

When the nurse returned a little later, she had made arrangements for me to get the pump off on Saturday morning.  

I marveled, knowing God had worked this out for me.

39  The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

Matthew 5:32  But I (Jesus) say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

The only scriptural reason for a man to divorce his wife is if she is unfaithful to him.

The faithful wife will commit adultery if her husband divorces her and she marries another man but her husband will be the cause of her adultery.

The man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

We continually read the Bible and are instructed by the Word of God and make adjustments to that which we are doing on this present earth because of the scriptures in the Old and New Testaments.

The New Testament Bible contains the doctrines of Christ for the New Testament church.  It is the only thing we go by in the church today.

But the Old Testament contains many verses which also apply to us today.

πŸ’₯  Psalm 23

1  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

(We follow the LORD, The Word, by the Holy Spirit and do that Word.  God leads us and moves us and provides for us and there is no lack when we belong to HIM and do the Word of God.)

2 HE maketh me to lie down in green pastures: HE leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 HE restoreth my soul: HE leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for HIS name's sake.

(When I am pulled down by a saying of the world, it is God who restores my joy in the Word of God and in the promises God made to the children of God.)

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for THOU art with me; THY rod and THY staff they comfort me.

5 THOU preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:  THOU anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD  (the scriptures) ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

(It would be very hard to bring down a tree that drinking from the rivers of water.)

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.


πŸ’₯  Isaiah 26:2-3

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on THEE: because he trusteth in THEE.

4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:


πŸ’₯  Ezekiel 36  (God says what HE will give to the individual in the New Covenant church)

23 And I will sanctify MY great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

(After we are born again, the people see the difference in us and know something has changed us.)

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

(After we are born again, we no longer want to be with some of those people of the world and we no longer want to do those things that we wanted to do before for now we are new creatures:  2 Cor. 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.)

Ezekiel 36

25T hen will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put MY spirit within you, and cause you to walk in MY statutes, and ye shall keep MY judgments, and do them.


πŸ’₯  Isaiah 54:17  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of ME, saith the LORD.

(Our righteousness is of God because it was God who told us to do this thing and to say these words.)

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

(Didn't God tell us to do these things?)

And there are many other scripture in the Old Testament which we do and believe.

Jesus has paid for our sins so we no longer do the Law of Moses concerning the animal sacrifices for sin.  

But there are many promises of God in the Old Testament which apply to us today.

Romans 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Jesus says the following about the working of the Holy Spirit in the believer:

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of HIMSELF; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

HE leads us and guides us into the way of God by bringing gentle thoughts to our mind so we can go in a better way as we live on this present earth.  HE lives in us.

Pam Padgett was raised in the Catholic church.

When she was 14, one of her classmates was killed on a motorcycle.  All of a sudden she realized someone her age could die!  The Holy Spirit of God said to Pam, "God is your only hope."  By this she knew that nothing the Catholic church taught could save her, and nothing she or anyone else could do would save her. (No church can save us, only God can save us.) And Pam knew if she died at that moment she would go to hell and she cried out to God asking HIM to save her if at all possible

After that Pam realized there was something "of God" in her.

Years later when she saw the following scripture, she knew what it was of God that was in her.

.I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

πŸ’₯ Exhortation from Barbara Preston, member of the body of Christ.


When I step back and think about it, it is shocking what craziness we humans can fall for.

Ideas such as:  Eating black eyes peas on New Year's Day bringing good luck.   Money coming from eating cabbage ???

I know I used to be crazy as a loon!

Without God there is no hope for us.

My husband told me that after I was born again my daughter asked him one day…Is mom okay?…meaning…Has she gone crazy?

Funny thing is that before I was born again I did act like a genuinely crazy person.

But she was so used to my craziness that when I sobered up ( both literally and figuratively) she thought I may be losing my mind because I was saying and doing things so differently than I had in the past.
