Beth Martin, member of the body of Christ
This week my husband and I drove near the devastation of recent flooding in our area. Some homes were a shell with drywall and other debris piled up in the front for the national guard to pick up. Others were a shamble of wood. One had a message spray painted on the side that the devil was to blame for the flooding and deaths.
While we were driving, it began raining hard. After 10 minutes the road was covered with water and the stream along the road swelled, then there were streams forming on the road. I was struck with the realization that the weather is from God ....
(Psalm 148:7-8 Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: 8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling HIS word:
Psalm 107:23-28 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; 24 These see the works of the Lord, and HIS wonders in the deep.
25 For HE commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end.
28 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and HE bringeth them out of their distresses.)
(continuing Beth's report:)
I then remembered the words on the message attributing the flooding to the devil .... again the devil is a LIAR.
John 8:44 (Jesus speaking of the devil): Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
When we arrived home, it was raining too hard to get out of the truck. We were there for several minutes before we could move. We entered the house and had no power. I lit the oil lanterns. The generator would not start. We got into bed. I felt so peaceful and content. I was amazed at this ....
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Comments from Barbara Preston:
Concerning the fact that weather comes from God, the following scripture often comes to mind when I see reports about the weather on TV, especially when reporting on extreme weather like tornadoes, hurricanes, and massive storms, showing the destruction they leave behind with cars thrown around and houses blown off their foundations with nothing left but a pile of boards and ruined, often soaked furniture laying everywhere.
Psalm 148:8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling HIS word:
Stormy - fierce; turbulent; violent
